Good afternoon everyone,

Forgive me for this being long....

April 5th 2pm, I had to share with my daughter that she has cancer. I

asked for prayers at the beginning, and I believe you can’t ever overdose on

laughter or prayers. My daughter was in very serious condition and there was

a possibility of NOT leaving the hospital, however, due to aggressive care,

I think we are getting a better handle on our annoyance of cancer, and I

am going to take this long email and share some information. It will be for

some of you, and for others, you will simply hit the delete button. I dare

you to read this, then act on it.

It’s been very busy for the past 84 days, and I am sorry that I haven’t

shared any information. If you’re on my facebook account, then you know

exactly what is going on. It’s been hell. This is what I found out.

Normal people can’t relate to EMS workers. It doesn’t matter if you’re an

EMT, nurse or surgeon. They get to know us when they call on us. On the

other hand, WE are trained to do a job that NORMAL people wouldn’t ever think

about doing. We work late hours, we fight with sarcasm, insult people at

the drop of a hat, and also make a difference in someone else’s life. Then

we spend our off time complaining to each other, or act like my 5 year old

throwing a temper tantrum.

My teenager, has been diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma. It’s a rare

cancer that has taken over my child’s body. We are currently under

aggressive care by Children’s Medical Center Oncologists, and they have been

doing

an awesome job. (It pays greatly to be medically inclined.) I have a clear

cut relationship with the physicians (GOD Bless them, because they have to

put up with me) I told them, I am a dog, and if you feed me information,

then I am fine. If you don’t, then the dog gets upset, barks, bites and maybe

pees on your leg. After they got done laughing, they understood.

My daughter is on a 54 week chemotherapy plan to get rid of this annoyance

called cancer. I have done more research on this animal than anyone

should. Cancer simply sucks, but it can be beaten, and in this case, it will

be!

It’s an awful disease process, and there is no reason for kids to get it,

in my opinion. www.curesearch.org.

My community, church, employer and friends in the FD and EMS world have

come together to support us. It’s been so overwhelming, that I can’t

believe

how many caring people there are out there. I have had to cut down on my

overtime at work, because it interferes with my family time. I have

totally rethought the past 17 years in EMS, down to this one question.

What do you want to be remembered for? So, what do YOU want to be

remembered for? Bickering? Inventing a new head blocks? Or is it teaching,

writing books, etc.

I hope you take advantage of this challenge my family has been chosen to

deal with and make a difference in your family, your community and do some

charity work. If you don’t have money to give, then give your time.

If you’re interested in ’s Golf tournament, email me

privately. It’s July 12th at Gentle Creek Golf Course. Have a blessed day.

Thank you for what you do!

Very highest in regards,

Ron
