Guest guest
Yo, hippies, Perhaps, light at the end of the endless insurance tunnel. Recall from previous posts that CIGNA let my case filed by Nikki at JRI sit on a desk somewhere in Visalia (that's where my employer's part of CIGNA's operation is based). I saw Dr. Amstutz on May 3. My case sat on a desk at CIGNA from May 10 until June 8th. Recall that I'd been told twice the case would be expedited. So, having heard nothing yesterday...after another two weeks... I called again. Turns out, the latest version of the CIGNA Sweet Young Thing actually seems to have figured things out. They had apparently separated the page containing the diagnosis and procedure codes from the other 22 pages of the request. When she finally found the two and put them together, she asked if I could hold while she talked to her supervisor. She came back in about two minutes...to say...because of the problems I'd had...they would truly expedite consideration of my case. I asked what that might mean. She said... " no more than ten business days, and it could be done much more quickly. " And she says...they'll notify me by phone. All this for what I'm quite certain will be a rejection...but progress is defined in strange ways. Of course, I'd ask JRI to appeal a denial...but I'm also locked and loaded to send the x-rays to Ghent. The ultimate truth of this story: If you can avoid doing business with CIGNA... do it.
