Guest guest
LOL - Unfortunately, phonics (as well as other things academic), backfire on us with Jacqui. About a year or so ago I posted how Jacqui had better handwriting BEFORE they started teaching her the " right " way to write. Same with reading. Jacqui has been reading since she was 2, and did not learn phonetically. I am assuming that they have been teaching phonetics in school, because words that she would " instinctively " know how to pronounce are now being " sounded out " , such as DEPOT is now De-Pawt instead of De-Poh. phooey. Penny Re: Re: rowan reads... some more > I wondered what happened to learning how to sound > out a word...is that how it is now? Its hard to > tell, cause of the way jenna learns I learned whole language and it was easy for me as I am a visual learner with a good memory. But phonics is better for some.
