Hi All,

I have a friend - non-EDS - who just had his thyroid removed hence will be

dealing with a nice scar right out in the open. His doc told him to just keep

rubbing cream on it and he wondered if I might have any creams I'd recommend.

I haven't had any experience with any scar reducing creams so I'd like to

ask you all - anyone have good results with a particular scar reducing cream?

Thank!

Hugs,

B.

Dear :

Please relay our good wishes to your friend & let him know he's now " adopted

in to " a entire HUGE family that will be with him all the way.

AND

from my personal experience (post 50 operations) and from what I have heard

from others, that the best thing is simple, VITAMIN " E " OIL. it's also very

inexpensive & easy to get. And, he can use it liberally. It's generally

available, 2 ways. It's easiest to find, in gel-like capsules (look in the

vitamin section). You break each one open & use it that way.

The best though, instead of breaking open the capsules, if you can find it,

(sometimes my food store even carries it, ask the pharmacist or a place like

CVS, Walgreen's, etc.,) is from a a small clear bottle & simply says Vitamin E

oil (IT'S CLEAR).

Don't get any kind of creams or lotions, etc., that say that have Vitamin E

in them or call themselves something with Vitamin E, even something that might

say " Vitamin E creme, etc. You want the plain old, nothing added, Vitamin E

oil, just like the oil that comes out of the capsules. If you look at the

ingredients on any lotions, cremes, etc., you'll see that they usually list

water

first, then all kinds of other junk. The plain old Vitamin E oil, is all he

needs & again, this is from my personal experience & from what I've also known

from many other people & is my opinion only. Wish him well for us.

I also usually tell woman who have this surgery that another nice option

after using the Vitamin E oil, is to tell their " significant other " that they

need

a full choker style necklace made out of diamonds. It does a really nice job

of hiding the scar!!!!! But I guess that wouldn't be the best thing for a

guy. And as for girls, I don't think I've met anyone yet who could convince

anyone, that they really needed that diamond choker for medial reasons. But

hey,

a gal can always try, right?

Seriously, wish him well. Take care,

Hi,

I use various creams from Derma-E--very good for sensitive,

allergy-prone skin. They have a scar reduction cream that is supposed

to be very good, though it takes dedicated application.
