,my daighter was diagnosed SID when she was 11 months old.She is now

33 months.I am here totell you it has been HELL!!!!! She never

sleeps, eats, she throws fits, etc. The brushing therapy helps. We also massage

her with olive oil and use a mouth massager on her.You can also use a

rubbermaid container and fill it with different kinds of beans and let your

child run his hands through it.It helps with desensethisizing. My hild has

such extreme oral defensiveness. She is terrified of food. She is going to a

feeding clinic on Tuesday in Cincinnati. We also use Houstons enzymes which

helps tremendously. We swing her alot, especially in spandax that helps with

calming and spacial awareness.I ordered some music and games from Amazon that

is for sensory kids.I hope some of this helps...........ne

Michele,

It sounds like you are off to a good start. SID can be the hardest

to deal with on a daily basis. The brushing is good, and if you

could get Dad involved with things like Play Doh and clay and

rubbing lotion on the little guy's legs and back, that would be

great too. One of my son's and my daughter's favorite things in

the beginning was a Ziploc freezer bag full of hair conditioner

and a couple of tiny toys. They can poke and pat it and find the

little cars or dinosaurs or whatever and it feels good, too. Have

you checked for an ear infection? My children did not sleep at

night until they got relief from their chronic ear infections. Also, if

you are interested in way out there things to try, we use a therapy

magnet mattress pad under our son. Finally, he sleeps through

the night. I'm sorry my reply is so disjointed, but with two on the

spectrum, we don't sleep much.

Hope this helps,

Patti,we had her hair tested and we get those results back on Wednesday.I

know this sounds awful, but I am kind of hoping she does have mercury.I am so

tired of not knowing what is causing her to be like this.Every

test, doctor, etc.has either been negative or they have no clue.At least this

way we will know and be able to help her..........ne

ne,

The hair test may not show mercury...usually other metals show up first. My

grandson's hair analysis revealed aluminum toxicity but did not reveal the

mercury. For mercury to show up in hair I think the exposure to mercury has

to have been recent.
