Alan, Just to answer your questions;

" Questions from for Lari and Tom... what were your pre-op diagnoses,

and the reason for the resurfs?  Is the pain now different from the

pain pre-op?  Is the pain worse than what you experienced pre-op? "

I had osteoarthritis of the right hip. The post -op pain is pretty much

the same as pre-op, except now I have to deal with the insicion/sore muscles

from the operation

" For Tom, you're from San Francisco.  I'm in the Bay Area, too.  Where

did you go for the resurf?  Your surgeon's name is not familiar from

the LA clinic. "

I had Dr Mont in Baltimore do it.

Tom in San Fran.

Tom...

I'm sorry you don't have much joy -- or improvement -- to show for

all you've been through. Curious what made you go to Baltimore for

the operation when there's a facility in LA that does resurfacing.

Also curious about your level of physical activity or conditioning

pre-op. Were you active, and cannot now be? I ask because I'm

trying to get some real life idea of what my life would be like if I

had to leave handball in my past. I know life's a crapshoot on these

things, but I'd like to know the kind of dice I'm throwing. I've got

end-stage OA of the left hip, the result of an althetic injury I

managed to " play through " for nearly 8 years. No mas. It hurts too

much now and the joint is too unstable to handle the lateral torque.

I hope your pain passes soon. Uncontrolled it is draining thing.

All the best...
