Guest guest
Hi, I already reported on my son ( 7 yo, with ASPERGER) before and I said that 1. He was one of those children to whom Peptizyde caused allergic looking reactions and extreme hyperactivity. 2. What we did then was: a. Stopped Pep a. Identified canola oil as a possible allergen and removed it from his diet a. Waited for the symptoms (rashes and hives) to clear up b. Removed soy and milk but not entirely from his diet, we did not look at labels and did not look behind labels of bread, biscuits and also had milk in chocolate. c. Implemented a fairly low phenol diet. d. Gluten is kept at a lower level than before. e. Introduced HN Zyme Prime gradually (1/8 once a day, increasing it in 4 days intervals) f. the final level where we are now is 3 out of 4 meals, 2/3 of a capsule each time (not given before the afternoon snack) During the implementation of Zyme, he became more stimming, even verbal stimming started that he has never done before. He became less hyperactive. He became happier, more flexible and there was an improvement in eye contact. After 6-7 weeks into the enzyme, his stimming started to diminish, did not entirely go away, but was definitely subsiding. Verbal stimming stopped. Then we had a soy challenge. Every morning for 5 or 6 days he got his breakfast cereal with soy milk (SO GOOD). First 2 days, no change, good, it may be OK. 3rd day, started to be cranky and whiny, less tolerant and less flexible. After that it declined and even facial rashes developed and hives. He started to be really cranky in the morning. He started stimming more and even verbal stimming came back. We stopped soy as soon as we realised that there could be a connection. His behaviour did not improve. It took 3 weeks for his body to get rid off the soy and now he is back to the description of happy, flexible, calm, cooperative, not too stimmy etc etc. His skin problems went away too. Even hives, he was still getting one or two new bite looking rash every day even 2 weeks after stopping soy. It just shows, how difficult it may be to identify causes, especially if too many things are changed in too little time. Patience is a great friend in this 'battle'. Now that he is back to good, we will go through a series of food challenges starting with bananas. Another thing that I need to say is that my son is really happy to have this diet and to be sensitive. I told him that it is lucky because people who are not sensitive to food, will tend to live on junk food, just because it is so much easier to live on that and they will get sick when they are older. He is eating all this lovely food that is healthy, because he is sensitive and we have to put that extra effort in for him. I tell him that he is a good influence on me, through his sensitivity I become a better person and guys, IT IS TRUE!!! And that he also becomes a better person with a lot more understanding of stuff than a child of his age would ever have. I told him 'Look at your friends lunch box. Notice how they tend to have the same kind of sandwich every day.' He said, 'ye, and some of them have a bag of chips every day'. His lunch box is a real delight these days. It contains food that he really likes, it is a variety and he is really happy about it. It makes him proud. I said to him, 'you know I did not know this much before and when your sister went to school, she wanted to have the same cream cheese sandwich every day, she would not eat anything else. Now I know I should have insisted with diet things for her too.' Then he smiles and he feels very special.
