Guest guest
Hi Sonya (Mom can read this too), I'm Chris. I was resurfaced 7 weeks ago. I too am a perthese person. I would say that if a qualified Doctor has agreed that you are a good candidate for a resurfacing, and you are in too much pain to live life happily, and the femoral head is not viable any more, than you probably are smart too consider the resurfacing. It sounds like they've tried everything else already. I'd love to hear what surgeries you've had so far. I had one prior to this at age 19 (25 years ago) called a vascularized fibular graft. I'll tell you more about it if you want. May I ask which Doctor will do the resurfacing for you? And I would be very excited if I were you. This group is full of so many great success stories. We even have a member who was resurfaced at 16 several years ago, and she is doing great. she's skiing, and all that good stuff. She visits this site sometimes. I am now walking without any pain at all, and only a small limp. I'm sure it's mostly because I have limped for so long that by leg thinks it's supposed to. I had perthese at 7 years old, so that's a lot of limping!! My friend the physical therapist told me that I can learn to walk like Denzel Washington and look cool if I work hard at it. I would love to talk to you or your Mom on the phone if you'd like. I have free minutes on the weekend (in the U.S.) on my cell phone, or you guys can call me at my house if you want. My # is 760- 726-9272. I'm definately not a doctor, but I have done a ton of research (as have most folks in this group) and I'd be happy to share with you what I know. We all know exactly what you are going through, and we all were nervous about what we had to face. But some of us are kinda old, and we came out of the surgery ok, so you'll do even better!!! Hope to hear from you, (I got my resurfacing in April 04 =) > Hello, > I am the mother of a 14 year old girl that is waiting to have a hip > resurfacing surgery.
