Guest guest
OMG , ouch !!!!!!!!! In my prayers- wow I can't believe you jumped that - gotta be more careful girl- Hoping its just sore muscles for now- and nothing serious- I wonder if you shouldnt have it checked, you have EDS don't you? ouch ouch ouch. Hugssss- gentle ones! Love TJ Bent my arm ... ouch :-( Hi all, I had a new experience today. I am still actively cleaning now that I hope to move in a few months. I brought work leather gloves to protect my hands and planned to throw out my old computer cases from my LAN. That was about six open metal cases. I verified that the three machines I was keeping all had there covers. Later I found I was wrong. I have four machines I want to keep. And I started dumping the cases, one heavy cover dropped. Inside it said it went to the blue PC. Which is MY PC? Oh-Oh. That was close, I was throwing away MY PC cover. On check of what else I might have hastily dumped I thought I saw another cover I needed. So, as I could do 20 years ago :-D, I tried to heave myself up to jump into the empty garbage bin. Instead, my arm " bent. " Wrongly :-(. I knew I was out of condition but I did not expect that. Maybe not the arm but the wrist over extended. And now about an hour later it is really starting to kill me. What I wonder is this. Is this old age and lack of exercise? I mean, I use to be able to climb stuff. I am just venting about my arm. If it gets worse I won't be able to type easily. Do I use hot or cold on the arm? And as usual for me, it does not hurt until I move the wrist. Caro. Monday I see the Dysautonomia specialist for my testing about indifference to pain. I would be nice if the injury is still there. I hate the fact that I heal so quickly. As long as I can prove it it happened. The wrist hurts but is not red or swollen as is typical for me. Hey for the anatomy folks. It is the little bone on the wrist that sticks out. The side of that is what hurts ... if I touch it or move it the wrong way. Other than that not enough of any pain anywhere to take pain meds. Instead of pain I get Higher BP .... grrrrrr. Caro. How do I know if I tore or stretched it? I cannot judge by my pain levels. Pressure on the spot or area will have some pain. Not in the skin but deeper. When I do not touch it I sense no pain. If I move the wrist a certain way, it hurts. But the pain stops immediately. Thus my Dysautonomia appointment June 7th :-D. For years I was told if it only hurts if you touch it ... don't. My current EDS doctor said this is dangerous because I never know when I need a doctors care. Caro

Guest guest
Caro - Ice is usually best for an immediate injury - ice reduces inflamation, heat will increase the inflamation. If the little bone you are talking about is on the outside (pinkie side) of your wrist - it is most likely the ulna. There are a 'ton' of small bones in the wrist, not to mention ligaments and nerves and tendons - anyone of one which could have been stressed and injured during your mishap. Also, inflamation, dislocation, swelling, etc can cause what I call secondary damage - that is to say, it can cause damage to another part - often the nerve. Based on your history of EDS and lack of pain - you might want to get it checked out. Bear in mind that some fractures don't show up right away, so an xray might not tell you the true extend of damage. I'm not sure how doctors access ligament damage so I can't help you there. Or you can wait till morning and see what it looks and feels like then. So I just realized it's been a couple days since you posted - how's your wrist doing? Hope it's feeling better. > In a message dated 6/4/2004 6:35:22 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > concreteangel@m... writes: > > > Hoping its just sore muscles for now- and nothing serious > > It hurts like heck ... if I touch it or move it a certain way ... like raise > my fingers of the keyboard.
