Wayne, I had some nerve issues with my left hip. My left leg was nearly numb and nearly paralyzed immediately post-op, and my left knee felt very unstable (like if I stepped wrong, my leg would just collapse at the knee). The numbness has nearly gone away, and the left leg is weaker, but I'm not sure if that is due to the nerve issues, or just because that hip was SO bad to start with. It continues to get stronger. It did take several months before I felt that the left leg was not going to collapse. Cindy C+ 5/25/01 and 6/28/
Guest guest
Hi Wayne, I went into the Resurface with a knee that wasn't good from years of poor walking.......... I had quite a few problems with it after......... and to this day it is still a tiny bit unstable............. I couldn't say what it had to do with my vastus medialis muscle........ I am yet to learn more about how muscles work and which ones do what.......... I didn't have any nerve problems............ I have been slowly getting my knee to stablize with a couple of exercises in the pool........ One where I kick the foot back up and hold against my buttock and hold - I was told this helped get the muscles that stablised the knee working better and it did seem to have an immediate effect............ and another where I get the noodle and hook it under my foot behind me and push it to the bottom of the pool............ this really gets the muscles around the knee working........ These days the swelling around the knee is a lot less and it rarely worries me........... I hope you can find some answers to yours............
