Guest guest
Alan, Do you know the name of the surgeon at the Friarage? I am having my hip resurfaced by Mr Rahul Jain at York District Hospital in May. Do you know whether they actually do resurfacing at Northallerton, cos if not you may be eligible to be seen in York as its probably your nearest big hospital. Mr Jain is quite young, and a recently appointed consultant to York, but I understand he trained under the best in Birmingham, so I am putting my life in his hands! I have only had to wait about 5 -6 months on the NHS waiting list, which isn't bad at all. Hope this is of help. By the way, the government have decreed in this country that patients should have " choice " and if you are uinable to get done at Northallerton you should have a choice to go outside of your immediate area, still on the NHS. Guest guest
Jen Thanks for your reply. The surgeon I am down to have a resurface with at the Friarage is Mr. Lucas Van Vuuren. I had to sort of find him myself as my doctor had no experience of anyone requesting to see a specialist about a resurface ! I live near Bingley in West Yorks so I am having the operation out of my area (in fact I understand that there is no surgeon in Bradford or Leeds who does resurfacing) I do not know much about Mr Van Vuuren but hope he will do the trick for me. I was told the waiting list was about 6 months and have been waiting that long now so they tell me my date for the operation should be in May.
