Guest guest
Hi Betty, So sorry to hear that you are feeling that bad... How long have you been sick? Did your doc check if you have a bacterial or a viral infection in your throat? If it sticks like that, that might be a good idea, as there's no point in antibiotics if the infection is viral... But if it doesn't go away by itself within a reasonable time, and it doesn't seem to be viral, maybe you just need a course of antibiotics to get rid of it? I know that I in the past have toughed out a lot of bronchitis', where it has taken around 5-6 weeks to get rid of it. But if I go to the doc instead, and get a course of antibiotics, it sure is over with real fast. The past couple of years, I have had real trouble with pneumonias, had one for a looooong time, and it really drains you really bad, at one point I just wanted to sleep all the time. I could sleep 17 hours a day, then it is sure not easy to function. But as soon as I got the right antibiotic, it changed for the better really fast, what a fantastic relief!!! I think that since you feel this bad, you should really contact your doc again, and ask specifially for testing and that he/she gives you an antibiotic if it is really a bacterial infection. Just say it as it is, you just can't do it anymore, it is taking it's toll on you. Sometimes those doc's are really slow, that is for sure, you have to spell things out to them in a way that makes it clear to them how things really are. And your doctor should also see the bigger picture, that maybe you just don't have the strength to toughen things like that out for a long time right now... Which shold be really understandable!!!! Good luck to you and I really hope you feel better soon!!!! Aase Marit > >Well I think its time to throw in the towel. Guest guest
Oh Betty, I am so sorry to hear how awful you are feeling - I am praying hard that your nasty infections will feel better very quickly. It is so frustrating that because of gross over prescribing in the past, doctors are so reluctant to give antibiotics these days, even when they are genuinely needed! It certainly sounds like you need something now Darl. I would go back and ask if they could give you something as at least it would cover you from secondary infections. In the mean time all I can suggest are a few old remedies my Nan gave me whenever I have respiratory infections, not sure if they will help you but might be worth a try. First is the good old steam inhalation (head over a bowl of hot water with a towel draped over you) as it can really help ease the chest and settle coughing. Secondly for a sore throat is a spoonful of honey, or better still a hot honey and lemon drink. A few squeezes of pure lemon juice, diluted with boiling water and honey added to taste can really sooth a sore throat and help clear the stuffiness too. Hope these help you feel a little more comfortable Betty, you're in my thoughts and prayers as always. Love and hugs....Jo xx

Guest guest
Betty, At this point since your symptoms have not gone away you probably do have a bacterial infection. I think you need an antibiotic to clear this mess up and get you feeling better. S. ready to give up > Hi all > Well I think its time to throw in the towel.
