Guest guest
Oh Marla I didn't know about the bed rest. Glad that the baby is doing fine and you are almost there. Hang in there kid. Blessings and lots of love to you and the baby. Debbi AKA: jetskideb SoCal EDS'er pre-baby news-epidural question I am about 38 weeks pregnant. If he doesn't come by the weekend of Sept. 4th, my doc will induce me. Hopefully that won't have to happen. My first son was 9 days early, I hope this one is too. I want to thank Jill, Lana, Barb, Bonnie & for sending me well wishes. It really does cheer me up. For those of you that don't know, I was put on bedrest Aug. 6 for signs of pre-eclampsia, pre-term labor and low amniotic fluid. I think alot of that was caused by the fact that I work in Palm Springs where the temp. gets over 110 most days. So far the baby is fine and growing well. Last week his size was estimated at 6 lbs 11oz. I still have the low amniotic fluid, ankle swelling, and the contractions which they aren't going to stop now. I'm starting to get to that " uncomfortable " stage. I have to sleep on my sides (not on my back) which takes its toll on my hips & shoulders. Even sitting for a while makes my ribs hurt. So I am just waiting. My water didn't break with my son, I kinda associated it with the EDS, that it would just keep stretching. One good thing, no stretch marks! I'm sure contributed to EDS. This time I plan to have an epidural. I didn't have one the first time & I've made sure my doc is aware that I want one. I was wondering though, if it is as effective since I have EDS. I know the stuff the dentist gives (novacaine) doesn't work. Just wondering if it's the same with the epidural. Thanks for everything & well wishes for all. Guest guest
I'm so lame with dates and how time flies, I totally thought you had another 2 or 3 months to go with your pregnancy (wouldn't that be a bummer if human pregnancies lasted 1 year?!) I'm wishing you well and hoping everything works out for a timely and safe delivery. (Marla, we met at Debbi's So CA EDSer party... Just to jog your memory, I was the gal with the shortish, dark, curly hair who had the purse with the Engish Bulldog on it) > I am about 38 weeks pregnant. Guest guest
Congrats. With the epidural, they didn't bother with one either time said that a. there was too much of a bruising risk in my spine b. they were doubtful that it would work cause I don't react to novocaine or local anesthetics. Opiate pain killers barely work for me. Morphine does nothing it is like Tylenol otc to me. Hope your l+d goes easy and quickly. Guest guest
Marla, I had an epidural with my second child, and everything was fine UNTIL they began to stitch up the peritoneum, and I felt every stitch! They tried to give me extra stuff through the IV and even through a mask, but it didn't help. I asked about it afterwards, and they said I had a " midline defect " , which they told me was a bubble of air where the anesthetic didn't take. I didn't know I had EDS at that time, but MY feeling is that it was related to the EDS and locals not working well with us. Hope this helps! Good luck, Sweetie, I'll be thinking of you and praying for you and the babe! Love Lana This time I plan to have an epidural.
