Guest guest
~~ I have no experience with delivering a baby. But I was delivered by my mom!.... yea, that is how that works, right? LOL! Anyway. She does not have EDS but I do. When I was born the doctor, nurses and my mom were shocked at how tiny my little joints were. She said that they were afraid to pick my legs up by the feet as usual for fear of breaking them. Of course they would not have broken, just stretched like silly putty but they didn't know that then. Putting that little band on my feet or hand was near impossible cuz they were so tiny. No one knew about my EDS or what the heck EDS was till about 2 years ago when I was diagnosed and I am now 48. (Oh my, that sounds very old today!) When my mom got me home she remembers to this day about her fear of diapering me. Not that I pooped all that much but I had such tiny ankles she was so afraid she would some how hurt them. Little did she know I would manage that all by my self when I was 7, 16, 22, 29, 35 and 40! LOL! She tells of my hands and how they looked like they were just hanging on my arms by a thread (the thread being my wrists) It was not that she was a first time mom either. She had my brother 3 years prior so all the baby stuff was not new or scary or awesome to her anymore. It was simply my joints that scared her to death. So, I am telling you this goofy story to say that you might warn your OB (and anyone else attending you) that your baby might have EDS and all that means.. For me it meant very, VERY tiny joints that ended up being very, very fragile. Hope this helps and I wish you a wonderful, blessed and love filled delivery. Please let us know how it goes? Debbi Pregnancy and hypermobility type EDS I'm expecting my first baby in 6 weeks time and am wondering whether my having hypermobility type EDS is likely to cause any labour complications. If anyone knows of an article on this subject and could let me have the reference, I'd be very grateful. I'm hoping to have a water birth but have a feeling the hospital won't want me to if they think the delivery won't be straightforward. Thanks in advance, Chapman -- Chapman sandrachapman@...
