RE: Triple script precautions

I am on heavy narcotics as well. I too have and mention my saf3e. also I go

to what is known as a professional pharmacy, where they only do

prescriptions and medical aids. It is 2 towns from me and they can deliver

if I am unable to drive. My physician, sent me to a pain doc and then had

care switched to herself so no one knows why I am seeing her whether it be

for a cold or to get my meds. She is located 2 towns from my pharmacy, and

4 to 5 from me. It is worth the trip however cause she has taken the time to

learn about EDS.

Morning all=

I read this Fed.s script change info with intrest - I'm still being

given the older triple script forms , and wonder if this is one of

those changes rolling out a few states at a time like they often

have done with other major changes ?

I thought I'd share a few of the precautions my pain doctor asks

we at least consider though . Here their big concern is that when

" word " leaks out into the community - house invasions /thefts

are linked clearly too , and they've become concerned we take

some precautions .

First I was advised to GET A SAFE - even the small sort now

available in many hotel rooms - key or combo -it's a DETURANT

to mention ANYTIME you need to discuss that your taking

narcotics - MENTION it in the same breath and your a less

desirable target for theft . My nursing agency gladly provided one

for my use that's EASY to open ( keyed rather than a spin combo

-both vision and dexterity issues vannish ) .

Check around with pharmacy's -- some offer home pickup of

scripts and delivery's free . Other's now have " drive through "

lanes - either one reduces the risk someone nearby will SEE the

color or overhear discussion of the sript .

I'm now using a free pickup /delivery pharmacy == It's a smaller

family run bussiness with the bonus that they've got MORE time

available to discuss side effects / possilbe interactions ect when

I want guidance too - AND they've got " higher radar " for odd

script mistakes going with a smaller overall " caseload " too - I

LIKE that the staff GET to know each client /patient-- they've

CAUGHT mistakes twice in recent months that saved me

possible grief !

Combined this also eased my fears that I'd be the next on a list

of breakins - seeking those narcotics . It's a sad time in our

culture/world that so many are addicted with no scruples about

HOW they get their hands on those triple script meds --BUT

we've got some control over how MUCH we are in jepordy too (G

) - it's become second habbit to me now to mention that safe in

the SAME breath I rattle off a medications update to a doctors

office / OR discuss meds in a coffee shop with friends too !

I like that the safe is small enough to SLIDE out of view when

guests come over - or even carry on an overnight trip ( someone

else LIFTING /carrying it - LOL ) - any who do have social

services /home nursing ect may well find they are glad to

purchase it FOR you if it's off concern to yourself /your family / Or

your doctor too .

It didn't occur to ME I was a good target ( duh ) - it was the

doctors office concern ( I see a pain specialist ) HE pointed out

to me that just GOING To his office also makes me a greater

KNOWN target of the sophisticated addicted sorts - and THOSE

are now a big CROSS section of our society too -- HERE even

" little old ladies " were getting scripts / then SELLING to those

same dealer /addict sorts to pay for FOOD as their incomes

retired became soo stretched == SAD - we NEED to better

provide for those elderly / and disabled in our communities as

well !

I do feel a bit safer with this simple combo of precautions though

- and it didn't take a huge effort - worth doing !

in Paradise ( Our little hidden mountian town of Paradise

is ALSO in that modern society culture INCLUDING the drug

thefts /addictions ect issues JUST like a microculture reflection

of the bigger " outside " world - tehehe ! )
