Guest guest
Hi guys, I know I'm probably worrying for nothing and there will be a logical reason for everything, but I have to confess to being rather concerned right now. On Saturday I received a letter from my GP asking me to attend the practice office for a repeat blood test. There was no explanation of which test or why I need it doing again though and of course my GP practice closes for the entire weekend, so I couldn't even call to find out what was going on. I had no idea what test could possibly need repeating but needless to say in spite of my best efforts not to, I've spent the weekend worrying about what is going on as they normally only repeat tests if there is an anomaly. I rang the practice this morning to find out what is going on, but all they could tell me is that the doctor has written " bone chemistry " on the request form. This has now really freaked me out now as I have no idea what they are looking for but I'm terrified this has something to do with the results of my recent bone density scan. I am going up to the hospital this afternoon to have the bloods taken, so maybe I will find out a little more about what is going on from the phlebotomist. I also have an appointment with the on duty GP as I have split yet another old surgery scar and have a nasty infection setting up in there now too. So I may be able to ask him if he has any idea why I'm having these tests done too. I just hope and pray this is a routine or precaution things as I really don't need any more stuff going on right now. Sorry for waffling, just needed to get my fears off my chest. Thanks for listening, hope you are all okay. Love and hugs....Jo xx
Guest guest
Jo, try not to worry too much. Maybe it's just to double check to see that you're not anemeic? You're right, there's enough on your plate to cover every one of us here! Put your trust where you know it belongs, kiddo, and just take one thing at a time, OK? I'll be thinking of you! Please let us know what you find out! It could be something as simple as the lab tech contaminated the sample, dropped the vial, or any number of problems with the handling of the blood. It could also be that they didn't get enough blood to get an accurate result. Don't stress over it until there is reason to worry. If it were serious, they probably (hopefully) would have called you on the phone instead of sending a letter. Good luck, and I'll keep fingers crossed that it is all nothing serious. -Barb
