Guest guest
For some reason I couldn't pull that up?? I'd be interested to read about it...I'm a bit skeptical about minimally invasive procedures....I think I'd rather my surgeon be able to see what he or she is doing! Guest guest
... My sports med OS bad-rapped resurfing so out of hand that I've decided to find another after I have my repairs done. But, when I was still unaware of the resurfacing option, and we were talking about a THR, I asked about the minimally invasive approach and he said the problem is that the sciatic nerve doesn't lie in the same place on every body; he said there had been cases of permanent sciatic damage about minimally invasive THR. He said, with a larger incision, it's easier to work around the sciatic. Later, when I was dealing with JRI on resurfing, I asked about possible minimally invasive resurfing, and (I think I remember it was Chuck, but I could be wrong) said, because the femur head remains largely intact, there's much less room to work...and the minimally invasive approach leaves too little room to operate (literally, in this case). It's possible Dr. Chana has a tool, perhaps with an angle like an off- set wrench. I'll be curious to learn more. Thanks again. Guest guest
It may be a " guy " sort of thing...but the idea of having a scar to show what I've been through doesn't bother me a bit. > In a message dated 7/5/2004 4:03:35 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > susettejk@y... writes: > > > > .I think I'd rather my surgeon be able to see what he or > > she is doing! Guest guest
I can't wait to fly! I'll set off the metal detector, and then I'll moon everyone, just to prove that I do have a Cobalt hip!!! My scar looks like Jack Pumpkin's smile. The weekend before last I had to fly to Boston to deal with a family situation. It was pretty uneventful - as I walked up to the metal detector, I told them about my hips. When the detector went off, they waved me into the " penalty box " , wanded me, and sent me on my way. It probably added a total of two minutes to the screening process on each end. Not much of a price to pay - I couldn't have made it down the concourse three months ago. Steve (bilat C+ 4/20/04, Amstutz)
