Guest guest
Resurfacing in Alberta, Canada I just discovered that there is a group of 7 OSs at the Rocky Mountain Hospital (Alberta) that did 65 hip resurfacings in 2003 and were scheduled for another 100 or so in 2004. Anybody have any experiences here. They are using the BHR prosthesis. I am on a 1.5 yr waitng list in Vancouver but am 60 yrs old. In Alberta they are accepting 55 as the max age for this procedure. Any responses would be appreciated. Again, the 4 doctors in Vancouver are using the Duron prosthesis by Zimmer. Any responses on this prosthesis also would be appreciated. Thanks for all of the great input on this board. Ted

Guest guest
I just had my hip resurfaced by Dr. DeSmet on March 3,04 and I'm 73 years old . DrDeSmet seems to go more by bone tissue health than age As long as the bone tissue is healthy away he goes . I'm feeling fantastic....golfing 4 times a week walking the course etc. Fred. Guest guest
Koen has recently completed bilateral surgery on a friend of mine - female age 76 years. He did insist on doing the operations a month apart because of her age but she is a very happy camper these days.
