Guest guest
I am in need of a hip resurfacing due to long ago damage to my hip caused by excessive gravity, (20 feet of flight traing, no proper landing instructions). My doctor has not yet formally contacted Worker's Comp because they have indicated that they believe it is still an experimental procedure. Opinions needed. If and when we have to appeal WC's decision do we stand a better chance of being successful with WC than with regular health coverage, (State of Minnesota)? Any known lawyers in Minnesota that have been successful in changing WC decisions concerning hip resurfacing? Thank you.
Guest guest
Minnesota hipster, Since no one else has fielded your question, I'll give it a shot. First, those 20 foot jumps aren't much fun. The next time you BASE jump, you should consider using a parachute and higher launch point. I read on this site recently where someone had California WC cover their resurfacing, so there's precedence. At best, insurance is a perplexing issue with hip resurfacing. At worst it's downright ugly. I don't recall anyone in Minnesota that performs resurfacings so you'll need to go out of state or out of country to have it performed. In addition to anyone with similar experience here, at this stage, these resurfacing surgeons and their staff are probably your best resource. They'll confirm that your injury can be treated with resurfacing and if anyone has experience in WC, they will. You can get some names and contact info from other posts here on surfacehippies and I'll start you off with the Joint Replacement Institute - http://www.jri-oh.com/ their Executive Director, Chuck is , ext. 1888. He'll be happy to share what he knows. Good luck and keep us posted. Guest guest
Minnesota hipster, The California hipster is a firefighter who received her information from another firefighter who was also resurfaced at JRI.
