There's no clinical evidence to suggest that either is superior. Corin manufactured the original McMinn resurfacing implant, so they're quite familiar with the technology. My layman's opinion is that you'll be fine with either device (or with a BHR, for that matter). I can't comment on the East Coast surgeons, since I was resurfaced by Amstutz at JRI. Guest guest
Hi, It sounds like you really have some difficult dilemmas............... People have done raves on Dr. s in the past so you may pick up some good info if you do a trip into the archives........... In the end it is your body and I suspect sometimes our medics just don't get that.............. Many end up saying later that they are sorry they waited so long............ for how much pain you suffer isn't really a sane criteria in my book......... The condition of the the hip bone and how much damage you are doing to other parts of the body and the long term implications of that are far more important........... i.e. so many of us find we end up with a beautiful hip joint and a very stuffed back........ and there are too few 'cures' around for chronic back hassles................ As for which prothesis is best............. My bet is that if well known and reputable surgeons are using a prothesis they have satisfied themselves that the technology works.......... Some of the arguements appear to be about what a piece of metal does under large pressures for the equivalent of umpteen years........... If you or I manage to do a fraction of that in our life time we will be doing well.............smile. Other issues are about what top cups are available to enable a later possible THR without taking it out too........... your surgeon will answer that but I think that difference will rapidly disappear anyway as more coys move into the business in US and approval happens.......... Look forward to hearing how you go, Edith LBHR Dr. L Walter Syd Aust 8/02 > > I learned that Dr s also does resurfacing w/Corin > product, not the product. I went to see him and really liked > him.
