My dad had it, his mother and so on. I didn't know you could get it without a family member passes it down to you? Grace Oh and WOW on the big family!!!! That must be exciting. EDS, It's a Life Thing http://www.ehlersdanlos.ca/whateds.htm wrong numbers I'm sorry Fay/Grace, I was wrong with the cuz #'s... there are 37 first cousins (all but 3 married) and they have 49 kids (and from the 49 there's another 10). I guess the 68 came from counting spouses. I just remembered the numbers from when my Grandma died a couple of years ago and we were trying to count all her kids/grandkids/great-grandkids for the notice in the paper. For instance although it's suspected that the faulty genes came to me from my mothers side, none of my family actually has EDS at all. Hope that helps. Guest guest Posted July 21, 2004 Report Share Posted July 21, 2004 We suspect now that my great-grandmother on my moms side had EDS. Back then everything was diagnosed as Arthritis. But apparently she used to fall down a lot and stuff like that. My mom has a terrible problem with her wrists and hands. (Carpeltunnel syndrome {sp?}) But she doesn't have EDS. I have never been given a type although I've diagnosed myself as type 3. I'm confused now though because I have bruising problems and muscle spasms.
