I checked into this a little bit. In the halcyon days of the

Internet, you could stop annoying animations by simply hitting

the " Escape " key. However, Yahoo is using Macromedia flash plug-ins

for their animated ads. A quick Google browse revealed there is

some " Pop-up Stopper " type software programs that include a

Macromedia diasble button. Internet Explorer and Macromedia itself

don't offer this option (once its installed it plays, you can

uninstall it, but then it will ask everytime that an tries to appear

if you want to re-install it).

Since I use the Google pop-op blocker (which doesn't have the

Macromedia Flash off switch) I can't recommend a specific pop-up

blocker. I'm hesitant to download free tools, because they may

contain unwanted spyware (arghh). Anyone have a recommendation?

The other option is to read the mesgs via email. Using the " digest

form " option reduces the number of email messages, and using the

automated sorting features of your email program can keep them filed

separated from your other email.

I don't see any adds.

I am using Norton Internet Security Pro 2004.

It has an add & pop up blocker, as well as the anti virus and

firewall stuff.

I use a pop-up stopper called " ad-bolish " . I found it ($20.oo) at

download.com, a cool site for up to date annoyance fighting tools. I

don't see any of the annoying adds, and I never have pop-ups.

you've gotten over time for making this work as well and smoothly as

it does.

And do please know...the comments were not about your work here, but

about what Yahoo! now seems to think is appropriate punishment for

people who use an " ad supported " service like this.
