Guest guest
Hey, man...that's what flashbacks are for, dontchaknow? I've got the half-burned draft card to prove I was there...even when I can't remember. > >Am I the only one who's ready to kill the first Yahoo! employee I > >meet over the (new, to me, at least) pulsing, flashing ads they're > >putting to the right of our messages? Guest guest
Alan I don’t see any flashing ads, nor any other ads / pop-ups etc. If you have a firewall or some other form of security you can prevent any such distractions from bothering you. Most firewall software has the built-in functionality to prevent adverts and the like. * +44 (0)7974 981-407 @ dan.milosevic@... _____ From: Alan Ray Sent: 18 May 2004 17:21 To: surfacehippy Subject: THOSE *&^%^$##%^* PULSING ADS Am I the only one who's ready to kill the first Yahoo! employee I meet over the (new, to me, at least) pulsing, flashing ads they're putting to the right of our messages? I don't mind ads...I understand the site is ad-supported. But the flashing items are so distracting it becomes impossible to read the messages. Is there a way to contact Yahoo to find out if there's a way to get rid of the pulsing ads? (Or am I just having bad flashbacks from my chemically-enhanced teen years in the '60's?) Guest guest
Hi Alan, I don't know whether it is a sign of the economic times or what but of late there seems to have been a large increase in invasions into ones internet space in all sorts of directions............ Maybe the spam manufacturers are on a hunt for customers............. But I could see the funny side of it this morning when having dealt with several of them with the usual porn, vigara, money lending rah rah the last one was for......... prozac................ One could almost feel like ordering it just to deal with the ads..............smile. Guest guest
I don't see any adds. I am using Norton Internet Security Pro 2004. It has an add & pop up blocker, as well as the anti virus and firewall stuff. Great proggy. > > Am I the only one who's ready to kill the first Yahoo! employee I > > meet over the (new, to me, at least) pulsing, flashing ads they're > > putting to the right of our messages? Guest guest
... You are a genius of the first order. Add my thanks to the others you've gotten over time for making this work as well and smoothly as it does. And do please know...the comments were not about your work here, but about what Yahoo! now seems to think is appropriate punishment for people who use an " ad supported " service like this. Guest guest
Hi Ad-aware by Lavasoft on the following site: http://lavasoft.element5.com/purchase/ If you pick Ad-aware on the top left hand side you can download for free their basic program - it will work happily side by side with the google pop up blocker. Ad-aware Plus for home use and Professional for business are pay to use expansions of the basic Ad-aware and are real time monitors. Plug-ins and enhancements are available - the freeby isn't real time but it does delete the spy ware on your PC which if used daily before internet access will cut down the number of pop ups.
