My opinion is that is your best option. That's exactly the

instruction I gave my surgeon.

Hi

I understand the the range of motion and risk of dislocation should

be about the same with a large head M-o-M THR and a BHR. So I guess

that would be a good second choice. It's nice to know it's there as a

backup should my BHR fail. I don't think the large head varieties are

made in ceramics (someone will correct me if wrong!).

Hope this helps

Liney,

The Medical BFH (Big Femoral Head), if available to your OS

would be the closest THR device to resurfacing. Cormet may also

have a large femoral head device that is similar in size (but it is

not approved here in the US). Talk to your OS or to his assistant

and see which ones are available and make sure they know that you

want it to be as large as will work for you.

Good luck,

Fred

Glad to hear it. Watch out when you cross the street.

I'm intensely interested in anything that's done to my own personal

body - particularly if it happens while I'm unconscious.

Well, it was 4 weeks ago. I came to pretty uneventfully, except for

the sleepwalking incident the night of day 2. I attribute that to

aftereffects of anesthesia, because that has never happened to me

before in my life. Since they had the bag for the Foley on one side of

the bed, and the IV stand on the other, the pain soon brought me to

full consciousness.

Hollering like a banshee in the middle of the night works quite well

when you caqn't get to the call button, by the way.
