Guest guest
How great to hear from you and that you are doing so well!! BIG CONGRATS! Interesting to know what they tell you from the bone/lab test. So very happy to hear you have your BHR cup and a large head femoral component. Take it easy with your recovery Best Alyce

Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Just thought I'd let you know I got out yesterday! After a bit of a concern (when my surgeon suggested a normal thr or a ceramic one pre surgery). I awoke to the best news possible; I'm now the proud owner of a large head metal on metal thr, utilizing the original bhr pelvic cup. The surgeons where well chuffed with what they found or didn't........ No sign of infection, just the bhr loose on the femur, a bone section has been sent away for tests but they don't think there will be any problems. I'm getting about really well, on 2 sticks at the mo, staying with my mum for a week or so for loving support and a downstairs loo! I'm going to be part of a report as it's so rare for a bhr to loosen for no apparent reason. Thanks again for all your support pre and post op. Looking forward to talking with you all again. A slightly sore ! LBHR 04/09/01 / revised LHMOMTHR 13/05/04 Kent UK DOB 20/08/72 SurfHippie Good Luck All the best. Guest guest
Hi , Well so glad to hear that you are now on the other side of the revision surgery etc............ and to hear that everyone is pleased with no infection but still somewhat mysterfied as to why it happened......... Infections in bones are about the last thing you wanted, so I am sure you are feeling quite happy with that announcement. I look forward to hearing the final outcomes of tests etc to see if they can establish what caused the failure and best of luck with a speedy recovery........... Guest guest
Hi Alyce, Edith, Eleanor, ine and everyone else! Thanks so much for your lovely messages; I'm chilling out here, still a bit shell shocked knowing I'm on the way to recovery! I'll keep you all posted as to how I get on, so far the recovery seems very similar, different pain control in hospital (no self medicated morphine) so a bit more discomfort at times, but otherwise it's all good! Thanks again LBHR 04 Sept 01 revised 13 May 04 MOMTHR keeping BHR Cup Kent UK DOB 20 August 1972
Guest guest
I have a question, If the femur side of a resurfacing is loose, like in 's case, why can't they just cement it back on if they didn't find anything wrong with the bone? Guest guest
Hi June, Someone may give a more technical answer but my guess is that while the bone may be without infection at that point it may well not be suitable for gluing anything back onto....... I would think that we require sort of freshly reemed bone to glue the prothesis onto and bone that has had a floating prothesis around it for months may not foot that bill........ Then to take more bone off to get that would not leave enough to support the prothesis........ There is also the problem that there could be other things wrong with the femur bone other than infections.........
