Guest guest
CIRS is pleased to announce the availability of the report by Rick Mines et al. based on the Binational Health Survey (BHS). The survey, sponsored by The California Endowment, was conducted with current and former farmworkers in sending villages in Zacatecas, Mexico and throughout the West Coast, mostly in California. While the study did not collect physical exam and blood chemistry data as in the case of the CAWHS, it does include a well-substantiated analysis of the contrasting systems of health care on both sides of the border and how this influences the expectations of Mexican-born farmworkers in the U.S. It also has primary data on some of the long-term health outcomes of U.S. farm work that we were unable to capture in the CAWHS.
