Thanks Laurel,

I know that RAI would never cure any problem thats for sure. I

suppose I will take my beta blocker tonight since the last 2 nights

I haven't slept that well. It could be because I ditched the Elavil

as well and that was helping me sleep.

Hard day at work today and I am tired so hopefully I will sleep

tonight. I see my doc soon anyway and I'm going to ask her about

this palpitation problem.

K-9 says we can stay symptomatic even though we are stable. So

maybe my body is just adjusting.

cheers

Thanks

My doctor has run the FT3 a couple of times but not consistently so I

will ask her when I go on the 16th about the FT3 and the TSI testing.

I wouldn't say I'm having severe heart palpitations just a few a day

didn't know if my body was just adjusting or what but I intend to find

out.

Cheers

I know exactly what you're talking about. I will get little episodes

of doubled, tripled, and skipped beats. Some days I'll get 2 or 3,

some days more often than that. They last about 3 seconds or a

little longer.

What you need to watch for is if they become more frequent. If they

just happen on occasion, maybe more of them one day than the next, or

maybe you'll go a couple of days without any palps, then your FT3 is

probably just on the high side. If the palps start occuring more and

more, you should definitely check your FT3 level.

It's very possible that you may just be adjusting to dropping the

Elavil. The beta blocker is always a good idea and should stop the

palps. This is a crap shoot, but eventually you'll find a formula

that works best for you.

Hi Alyssa,

I started treatment for gd 7 months ago. He started me on 450mg

of ptu daily and 80mg of inderal (for symptoms of gd)daily. I am now

down to 100mg ptu daily. Three months ago my doctor said I was at my

balance point so he took me off of the inderal. After a few weeks

off of this I started to get the heart palpitations back (not as bad)

and the feeling of my heart racing. I told the doctor about this and

he blew things off. He says my numbers are where he wants them. I

went to my primary doctor and my heart rate was 119 so he put me back

on the inderal. I have not told my specialist. Even though I am on

this treatment for 1 more year, and my numbers are where they should

be, I feel better on the beta blockers.

Hi Jody,

Yes your right your suppose to wean off the elavil but not at 25mg

dose that was all I was taking. I was taking 100mgs back last year

but I weaned down to 25mgs as I got better with PTU and Beta

blocker.

Your right though maybe it was a shock to my system to just stop it

suddenly but its been 4 days now I think and I don't want to take

it anymore. I'm doing well without it except one minor episode of

IBS but that could be because I ate a salad at work and something

could have gone bad.

Thanks Pam,

I will have to keep the corn, chocolate and peanuts in mind

although I don't eat much of the corn and peanuts I sometimes eat

chocolate but not often anymore I try and keep it to a limit.

Stress will do it thats for sure but haven't been under to much

stress lately and maybe thats why ultimately I do feel pretty good

these days.
