Guest guest
> Saw this on TV today and looked it up on line. Any thoughts? Seems > pricey! http://www.calmaxsales.com/index.html Anyone try it? > dawn Yes, this is by Dr. Pinkus the infomercial enzyme guy. It has calcium gluconate, mag carbonate and citric acid - the acid helps the other stuff dissolve and become available. I saw it when searching. It looks okay but I prefer not to use carbonates or oxides just to be on the very safe side of optimal nutrient availability. Natural Calm also has a version called CalMag which is almost identical. The Knowledgeable Health Food Store Guy told me that the citric acid helps the carbonate dissolve. He said to test a powder, you need to mix it in water. It should become completely clear. Any parts floating around are the insoluble/unavailable parts. I won't swear by this....just tossing it out. I did notice that the calcium citrate powder I bought from NOW and the Natural Calm mag both did become completely clear when I added the water, so it made me feel good for the moment. lol . Guest guest
<<Natural Calm also has a version called CalMag which is almost identical.>> Thanks . I saw this last night and am very interested. It doesn't have the vitamin C that the Calmax has which is fine with me since a regular multi covers that anyway. My husband swears by the Natural Calm and I was thinking about the CalMag for . I did notice on the infomercial that their Calmax did not fully dissolve. Guest guest
I asked Devin what he thought of this product (before this enzyme board started up). I believe the thought was that this product was way over-priced. (Dr.Pinkus has to pay for those commercials, you know!) > <<Natural Calm also has a version called CalMag which is > almost identical.>> > Thanks . I saw this last night and am very interested. Guest guest
Dawn, I used calmx and my son does too. Yes it is pricy- but there no taste. You can get a close substitute at the HFS called calmac for about $11-12 slightly flavored citrus but my son drinks it in juice. The calmac (from HFS) need time to dissolve in a cold drink-15-20 mins. It also contains magnesium which helps the absorption of calcium Kathy in Denver
