Guest guest
Hello! I posted 2 weeks ago and reported that my son wasn't napping like normal. At that point, we'd only been doing enzymes for 2 1/2 weeks. Now, I'm happy to report that he's taking his naps again and we're up to 1 cap Pep and 1 cap Zyme Prime per meal (this is day #3). Behaviorally, he's doing fairly well but he's stimming like crazy and it's driving us nuts. I'm hoping that this stimming will level off very soon, since we've been on the enzymes for over a month now. What should I expect? Or is this possibly a sign that I need to further increase the enzymes? Would giving more Zyme Prime, for example, possibly settle down the stimming? My son was never on the gfcf diet because I didn't think he had gut issues. His reaction to the enzymes has shown me otherwise! I would appreciate any insight! Thanks. Guest guest
Hi Eileen, I am glad you are seeing progress in your son (taking his naps again). Is there anything else he is doing that you consider " positive " ? It sounds like he is just taking longer to " detox " or withdrawal. On the diet they say it can last awhile and the enzymes are more thorough than food eliminations. I will send you the file on hyperactivity which may give you some ideas. You may want to try a few days of either: 1. increase the Zyme 2. decrease the Peptizyde, as that seems to promote it more than the Zyme. Do you know if he has any phenol sensitivities? Or yeast or bacteria? That would explain some of the stimming. What exactly does he do to " stim " ? I usually mention adding magnesium into the diet. Many people on a typical western or American diet are deficient in magnesium. Hyperness, anxiety, and muscle twitching is a symptom of magnesium deficiency. I use magnesium citrate but any soluble mag should help (not carbonate or oxide). Another supplement is the omega-3 fatty acids which appear to help with hyperactivitiy. . Guest guest
My daughter stimmed alot more than usual when we started the enzymes but it decreased when we cut out her other supplements(TMG and SNT p5P.)This also cut down significantly on her increased hyper behavior. I would say it took the full 3 weeks of taking the enzymes with all foods for the stimming to cool off and for her just to generally settle down and show alot of improvements. You mentioned that you were not gfcf so I think it will take longer for your child to slow down from the withdrawl plus the withdrawl will be worse than if he was already gfcf. Those of us who were/are on the diet went through those withdrawls when our kids went gfcf so now the enzymes are more of a clean up job. Hang in there and good luck!! It has definitely been worth it for us to stick it out-my daughter is doing so great on enzymes. katherine --- In @y..., and Eileen Rice <eileenrice@j...> wrote: > Hello! Guest guest
Eileen, I did a search and it doesn't have a ton of B vitamin, but I think I'd try dropping it for a week or two to see what happens. Some parents here have found they need to reduce or drop B vitamins once on enzymes. It may not be what the problem is for your child, but it would be easy to test. Would love to hear what happens. > , > > My son is taking a multi-vitamin and mineral supplement by Nature's Plus > called Love Bites.
