Guest guest
Have they tried Aciphex? It works quite well for Phil. The ulcers do seem to come from the chemo in his case. Narice

After an endoscopy and ultrasound they decided I have ulcers and after 3 attempts on meds, I think we found one that has eased the pain. They weren't sure if it is my aspirin/plavix regimen or chemo related or all 3. I have been on the aspirin/plavix regime for 2 years so it seems odd that all of a sudden it starts, then what do I know. Tuesday I will have a CT scan to see if there is anything else going on in the stomach or kidneys. Hi Donna...so sorry you've had so much pain lately. They did take Glenn off the baby aspirin while he was on chemo. Hope nothing else is going on with you and will pray for no other problems for you!!! Guest guest
thanks for the info. Have not heard of Aciphex but will call them on Monday. Right now they have me on Protonix and pain pills! I have eased off the pain meds so I can be sure I am not masking the pain and to make sure the protonix is working. Like Ingrid said, I wish they would have done the CT scan sooner, wish they would have done blood work or urine sample before now too. This started on the 6th and they just did the other 2 tests on the 13th so I guess I should be thankful. thanks again for the input girls......btw - my sister and mom were in town to visit so I got them to take me wig shopping. bought one and feel better, I guess. my hair is really, really thin!! hugs and prayers, donna flipper759@... wrote: Have they tried Aciphex? Guest guest
Thanks girls, Yes, Donelle, the protonix seems to be doing the trick. They had me on the carafate that you mention Jane, but it did nothing. Now I wasn't told to crush it. Damn, what horse pills they are! They took me off of it after a couple of days. It was also hard to take because my instructions were to take 1 hr before or 2 hrs after meals. Well when I feel sick, I munch and that could be every 30 minutes or twice a day. So hopefully this is all that is going on and I will find out after the ct scan. Stomach still inflammed but at least I can walk and drive this weekend. thanks again, hugs and prayers, donna Jane joshua1v9@...> wrote: I have a duodenal tumor that WAS ulcerated and bleeding causing pain. The GI dr gave me prevacid which helped the reflux. My onc then gave me another medicine called carafate. It is a pill you crush and take an hour before you eat. It is supposed to coat the ulcer area. It worked very well for me. I used it with the prevacid. I have to restart the med now because while the tumor isn't bleeding I can feel it is there.
