Guest guest
Congratulations Alyssa!!! I've only had one set of labs (going in for 2nd set on Monday) since starting PTU. When I sat and looked at my diagnosis labs compared to my labs after 6 weeks on PTU, I was also thrilled to see progress. I can't wait to get to the point where I don't see a little " H " next to all the values (except for that one " L " by TSH)!! And it has also made me so glad I skipped RAI and decided to go with BRT again. Congrats. Guest guest
Thanks Clair, Don't loose hope it took me 9 months to finally see labs like I posted it will happen for you too it takes time but its worth the roller coaster ride to not have had RAI and sweet success for me now. I just hope it keeps up! Hey I'm living proof it can happen the Doctor said, I was so sick that I would never ever go into remission without RAI look at me now I'm balanced. hehe Alyssa
Guest guest
Thanks Elaine, I couldn't have done it alone thats for sure especially since my first Endo that I fired said, I was so so sick that I would never go into remission without RAI he said, I was about to die actually talk about scare tactics! I know I have been on an emotional roller coaster for the last nine months but now I can laugh because I am getting better and better and thank goodness I found these clubs and didn't go for RAI. cheers Alyssa
Guest guest
Hi Jen, Yes and no When I started out I was taking 300mgs of PTU starting last March 2002 when diagnosed (told I was so sick I would never get better without RAI so fired first Endo lucky found these boards) Also I was put on a beta-blocker for a while now I just take Lopressor when needed. Just went off 25mgs of Elavil 3 days ago I was taking that to help with sleep found I was getting to tired because I was BALANCING out so I stopped taking it and am doing fine. So I'm only on 50mgs of PTU thats it! You will get there it takes time to get to where I'm at now it took me 9 months everyone is different though you might be quicker! See it is possible I was told I was about to have Thyroid storm and die and that if I didn't do RAI on schedule I had no hope whatsoever funny I am balanced now and RAI free! Thanks to these boards and all the people putting up with my moods I was on a terrible roller coaster ride I was very sick and I think that was part of all the bad times I had. I'm so much better now I feel so much better I can't even tell you and I called my shrink today haven't seen him in months just to say that I am balanced and isn't it great I didn't do RAI he said, I should do RAI as well otherwise there would be no hope for me. There is always hope I'm not in remission yet but I know I will get there my new Endo is really cool and she works with me not against me and hasn't mentioned RAI at all to me heheh Cheers!
