Guest guest
Personally, I would not bother with this stuff. EAS' CLA (capsules) or a tablespoon of natural peanut butter (tastes GREAT!) will have similar benefits, without invoking your gag reflexes. Jill > I bought some Udos oil yesterday. Guest guest
Yep, Udo's is not that great tasting. I take it straight-up with a chaser of nice cold water and lemon. AFTER I eat, that's key I think. It's good for you, does good things, treat it like a spoonful of medicine you'd make your kid take...I call it a 'body' shot...get it? How do I get this down? I didn't think Udo's has a taste at all.. so I'm always amazed by all the people who hate it here! Weird I made it into salad dressing when I bought it. It was quite yummy, in my opinion > And how much do you take? For those of you who hate Udo's. Has it been in the refrigerator in the store when you bought it? I know my health food store says that it doesn't need to be refridged until opened but that they keep it in the refrigerator anyway.. maybe it really does need to be refrigerated? Just thinking.. Guest guest
Okay, so I haven't tasted UDOS, so I'm not exactly qualified to *have* an opinion... But here goes anyway :-) If udos is what I think it is, you take it for the essential fatty acids? alphalinolenic, if I am not mistaken. (if it isn't, then it should be! :-p) Peanutbutter won't exactly give you that... but flaxseeds will. If you grind up two to three tablespoons flaxseeds and put that in a shake (with real fruit) IN A BLENDER, by the way ;-) it should do the trick. It will also get you some excellent fibre (trouble with constipation? no longer!!!!!! *lol*). Now, for the oil...if you put it in a blender with a shake and some REAL fruit (strawberries, raspberries, peaches, etc... fresh or frozen) that will mix it up well enough so that the oil doesn't stay on top. It will stick to the itty bitty pieces of fruit and make a very nice drink (I've done this with other oils, and it has worked). Serenity's idea for a salad dressing is also excellent! I don't know what recipe she uses, but if you add lemon juice to the oil, and mix in garlic salt, ginger, ground dry mustard (spice! not spread), other seasonings and a smidgereen of honey or stevia or those powdered (sorry, can't remember any of the names) sweeteners... you should end up with something not only healthy, but tasty! (((hugs))) Katrina
Guest guest
I keep seeing this information posted. CLA and peanut butter are not even close to doing the same things as REAL natural EFAs. It's not comparable. Peanut Butter, while a very healthy fat and yumola, is not a blanced EFA blend. Astra > > I bought some Udos oil yesterday. Guest guest
I was wondering how to say that without stepping on any toes - and I must say :-p you said that wonderfully well!!!!!!! Do you have any good recipes for using the darn stuff, tho? Katrina *who already shared her one and only trick: the blender!* > > > I bought some Udos oil yesterday. Guest guest
Forgot to mention that the alphalinolenic is only one of the EFAs. The flaxseeds won't give them all to you, but it's a good start if you really can't find a way to down the oil. Bisous, Katrina
Guest guest
It has to be refrigerated always...from making to shipping to eating...all of it. My store sells it refrigerated. Even flax oil and grains need to be stored in a light protective bottle in the fridge or freezer. > > > Yep, Udo's is not that great tasting. Guest guest
If only babe! I don't HATE it, but it's not my fav thing to take. I also thought it may have been giving me migraines for awhile, but it's not that. I like it blended in shakes...but you're not supposed to shake it up much, so I try not to do that. I just put it over greens with a little lemon juice and pepper. Not bad. It tastes GREEN to me, so a salad is optimal. > > > astramari02 wrote: > > > It has to be refrigerated always...from making to shipping to > > eating...all of it. My store sells it refrigerated. Guest guest
Well, I just happen to have a bottle right here...it's 3g of sugar and 3g of carb. In my book this classifies as a sugar-carb. I'm wary of them. Now that you mention it...I'll have to see HOW the sugar forms in vinegar...if it's added or FORMED somehow. So, as long as it's good quality vinegar, it's not added sugar.. it's just fructose from the grape sulfites. (I just went and checked my bottles too!) This is something that all vinegar has though.. so it's not unique to Balsamic. Serenity -- http://www.theonion.com

Guest guest
Jen - I haven't tried UDOs but do take flax oil (also unbearable). I take it straight - 1 tsp. 3X a day (unless I'm eating salmon then I skip that day). Yes it is gross, but I chase it with coffee or water and it only took me a few weeks before it was do-able. Some ladies here mix it with balsamic vinegar and use it on salads, or over veggies, but I feel it ruins everything it touches, so I do the straight shot. It will definitely make you feel fuller longer! Park Udos I bought some Udos oil yesterday. The guy at our local GNC told me if he could only take one supplement, that's the one he'd take. I've read where several of you ladies take the Udos too. But this is one of the most horrible tasting things I've ever put in my mouth! How on earth do you get it down? I put it in a shake last night and I couldn't drink the whole thing -- I felt like it was almost ruined. This morning I put it in a glass with some juice -- and about gagged just looking at that layer of oil on top (it won't let you mix it in - - it's too oily -- just sits there on the top like a layer of sludge). How do I get this down? And how much do you take? The guy at GNC said some people follow the box instructions - 1 tablespoon twice a day ... and he said some people just do 1 tablespoon a day ... others do a teaspoon twice a day...I guess it depends on how much is in your budget maybe. This stuff isn't cheap. I'm not worried about the expense so much as how on earth do I get this oil down? My husband took some this morning and noticed a remarkable difference. He took a tablespoon in his shake this morning around 4:00...and at 8:00 he had to force himself to eat. It really worked as an appetite suppressant for him right away. The guy at GNC told me all kinds of wonderful benefits of this oil, so I wanna find a way to stomach it...but I can't do it on my own, that's for sure! Guest guest
Waint a minute, you bought it at GNC? Was it refrigerated? If not, it could be rancid. Heck it could be anyway, check the experation date. Alys
Guest guest
I take Udo's and think it's pretty rude too, and it was in the fridge before I bought it (and of course still is). I take it in a protein shake in the morning, mixing it in a blender, and it does mix in for me, just leaves a bit of an aftertaste. It's not so bad though that I can't stomach it - just doesn't make my shake taste as good (??) as it did without it. Kim Re: Re: Udos astramari02 wrote: > Yep, Udo's is not that great tasting.
