Or is it just me? No, you're not unreasonable and it's not just you. I like documentaries, but not the gruesome ones that seem to be only made to shock you, and they do seem to be more of them lately. I also hate violent movies and can't watch them. I went to Pulp Fiction under duress and then almost fainted twice. I routinely leave the room or make my DH turn off the TV when there's something violent on. You are more sensitive than your DH, apparently. I certainly am more sensitive than mine. However, being sensitive is normal and being *very* sensitive is something like 25% of the population. I have a good book about this somewhere around here, which made me realise that all the struggles in my life to understand what was *wrong* with me because I was so sensitive were actually shared by billions of people. We invested in some headphone that need no cables so that DH can watch the programmes he wants whilst I sit in peace or rather sit talking on the phone! Or is it just me?<< I admit I do watch some of them but I agree there seem to be more and more of them. With Dh and I, he hates medical programs (with footage of operations etc) which I LOVE and I hate economic, financial programs (which he likes) so we have an agreement that if there is one on then we always tape it and watch it when the other one is not around. The other option you have is for him to listen to the programme on earphones. We bought a pair of cordless ones a few years ago as DH was sick of trying to watch the news through the various crying, shouting, fighting of all the kids. Only problem with this is if I want to watch the news too, but then I don't mind having the subtitles on. I actually find the news more upsetting sometimes than these programmes anyway, especially when it shows children dying from hunger or in war zones etc. Or a child murder like Bulger or Payne - these seem much more close to home. There are even adverts that I don`t like, (e.g. some of the past NSPCC campaigns, which I think are counter productive) I don`t mind scary films, as long as I am 'prepared' - I think I switch off emotionally I have an elderly relative who has earphones, I don`t think there is a lead running to the TV - they live in a flat &have TV on during the night Barbara
