I was a bit devious when it came to persuading DH to hand over the cash for me

to go to a private maternity centre. I told him I wanted a home birth (this was

not the case for many reasons although I wouldn't argue with anyone else's

choice to have one) and said that after the baby was born I wanted to go to The

Wessex for a few days to be looked after and pampered and have meals cooked etc.

so we agreed to go and have a look. DH was so impressed that he said " Its

really nice here, why don't you have the baby here? " to which I looked surprised

(as though I'd never considered this) and said 'What a good idea!! Why didn't I

think of that?'

So now he thinks it was his idea and that he is a clever old thing for

suggesting it!!

this mw sounds horrible starting to talk about stuff like that in the

supermarket is just ikk... she also obviously doesn't get why you are changing

(or doesn't want to get) Still I bet it made you fell 100% certain that you had

made the right choice in going with the independent mw ;o)..

Lonnie Phoebe & Eloisa's mama

& expecting a Christmas delivery...

My therapist told me the way to achieve true inner peace is to finish what you

start.

So far today, I have finished 2 bags of chips and a Chocolate cake.

I feel better already.

Just a thought but having chosen to go via the Independent route myself I

would be really angry if my ex-midwife said anything like this to me and

would complain to the Supervisor of Midwives - it is totally 'out or order'.

Their attitude seems to confirm that you have made the right decision :)

It seems to be pretty standard behaviour form what I have heard on this and

other

lists, along with horror stories about home births being repeated by the

community

midwife to the mum to be. I even wrote them a little letter when I choose to go

to

the Wessex, explaining that I was going to the Wessex because I wanted

continuity of

care, and a pleasant environment for after the baby was born, and that it was

nothing to do with any dissatisfaction with the care I had recieved from them.
