Guest guest
And they're beautiful babies, ! I'm very happy for you! Holly Birth story Hi Everybody- I had a rare free moment (things have been crazy the last couple of weeks) and thought I'd post about what happened. Tom was in San Francisco when my water broke on Jan 12. In fact, he was supposed to have dinner with Terry and her husband that evening. Since I was hardly dilated, the perinatalogist had thought it would be OK for him to be away for a few days although there was always a risk that the twins would come early. Well, we lost the gamble. When the peri did an U/S on me, it showed that the placentas were deteriorated and I was having another autoimmune reaction to the chorionic villi as I did with my first son. The good thing is that it hadn't progressed as far and we didn't come nearly as close to losing these babies as we had with my oldest. I don't know if the steroids that I was on arrested the immune response or since the babies were born prematurely, it didn't have a chance to get as bad. Considering this, the peri wanted to do a C-sec. right away. This was a bummer because my husband still had another 1 1/2 hours of driving to get to the hospital. Since labor pains had stopped, the nurses and the anesthesiologist slowpoked as much as they could (without making the perinatalogist angry). Tom wasn't able to make it in time for Eleanor's birth but he got there right after they pulled Arthur out (before they closed me up). Eleanor's apgar was 9 and she was doing well enough to stay in my room. Arthur's lungs hadn't quite developed and he was hypoglycemic so they put him on oxygen and a glucose IV for the 1st couple of days in the NICU. He still wasn't eating well enough when I was discharged and had to stay in the hospital for a couple more days. Both babies are home with me now and I'm happy to say that they're both doing very well. Arthur has at least 2 chins now. Eleanor is still a teeny little thing but she's gaining weight well and the pediatrician isn't worried about her. Anyhow, I'm so happy they're safely out of me and doing so well. I was so worried the entire pregnancy that my body would detrimentally affect them. Take care, dx & RAI 1987 (at age 24)
Guest guest
, What a great birth story! I have tried to e-mail you several times and have received failure notices each time. You might check with your ISP. I tried to un-bounce you myself but your name wasn't listed among the bouncing members. I would've sent this to you privately but, of course, I couldn't get through. Guest guest
What a wonderful birth story! I'm glad you didn't give into the doctors request for the pit. It's funny how they so easily want drugs to do what the body can do on it's own. Enjoy baby and life! Jackie in MI
