Guest guest
Hi All, I got really sick on Tuesday night and was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday. My CPK and WBC is very high although we have no idea why. This has happened before. Every ounce of my body is sore and exhausted. They have been flushing my kidneys with IVs to prevent renal failure and have been somewhat successful until now. They sent me home last night with the plan that a home health care nurse would be here in the morning to give me more IV solution and draw stat labs. She finally showed up at 1:30 but couldn't get any blood or start an IV. My veins are apparently shot. She stuck me several times with no luck. They were having problems at the hospital too but at least had a good port (?) in for the IV. She gave up and is sending another nurse over to try later. I know by the way I'm feeling and the way my kidneys hurt that I really need that IV. Does anyone have any suggestions on what works for them. Does anyone have these high CPK levels? I do not want to go back to the hospital. That was not a good experience. Any suggestions would be appreciated. S

Guest guest
I'm so sorry you are not doing well at this time. I know that when my mother's CPK was high, she could not move and we could not touch her without extreme pain. Try to drink as much fluid (water would probably be best) until you can get an IV in. My neighbor had some bad seizures lasting a long time, several years ago which raised his CPK very high. It clogged the kidney's and he had to have a couple of days of dialysis along with IVs to start him on the right path. I don't know if this might be your problem or not. I'm thinking of you and send lots of positive thoughts your way. Please keep us posted when you feel up to it. How is handling this? Guest guest
Can you call the home health place and have them send someone else out right away? If not, can you get ahold of your PCP's service and ask your PCP to call you with suggestions? I don't know what else to suggest, but I sure hope you can get this resolved quickly. Guest guest
, Did you do anything physical on Monday or Tuesday? Dewayne always gets episodes of rhabdomyolosis whenever he stresses his body. (or when he could) His CPK's elevated, HORRIBLE pain along with muscle spasms and kidney pain. His urine will get the myoglobulin (not sure if that is right)...anyway it turns coke color. Hospitalized IV stays are the only cure for him. It usually takes 3 to 4 days in the hospital and then he stays down longer at home. He says it's like I beat him with a baseball bat which makes me wonder how he would know that:) He never fully recovers back to the original after one of these episodes. Sure hope you are feeling better. Love and Prayers, Lynda R. out of hospital//need suggestions > > Hi All, > > I got really sick on Tuesday night and was admitted to the hospital on > Wednesday.
