Guest guest
Hello friends, Well I went to the OB this morning for a check up. I am 11wk4d now and we were able to hear the heartbeat!! It was such a wonderful feeling. I lost 5 pounds and the doc was a bit upset?!!! He's like " what are you trying to do? " I said " EAT HEALTHY and BE HEALTHY! " I told him that the 10#'s I had gained initially were needless pounds from Thanksgiving and over indulging in foods. He said " Ok, but let's not intentionally try to lose, Ok? " I agreed, but I'm not going to eat for 2...I'm going to shoot for 1800-2000 calories per day. We also discussed the GTT and he said he has no problem with me doing a fasting and then a post prandial...THANK GOD he agreed on that one. We also discussed my recurrent constipation. I told him I was taking 4 Colace per day and he said that is WAYYYY TOOO MUCH! I just don't get it....nothing I have tried to help with the constipation works, other than stool softners. He said he wants me to see a dietician to review foods to help (like I don't already know). I explained to him I have tried every fiber filled cereal on the market, fibercon, benefiber and more....he then said I need to see a Gastroenterologist! Lord, i think that is ridiculous! Like they can do anything for a pregnant woman! They are so hesitant to touch a pregnant woman. For any of you other ladies who have suffered with CONSTIPATION after WLS, please, what do you do now that you are pregnant??? Is the Colace too much? Am I causing any harm to the baby? Colace is on the SAFE TO TAKE list he gave me, but he says 4 is too much....but I am not the average pg woman....I doubt I absorb all of it...who knows, I just hate to go to a GI doc for no substantial reason. The dietician I can handle. So anyways, this was the BEST Christmas present I could have received...just knowing that my 1/2 banana is beating strong! LOL I had read that the baby is about the size of a 1/2 banana and that's what I've been saying for the last 2 days! LMBO I hope you all have a blessed holiday and a I know 2004 is going to bring new joy and triumphs to us all. Guest guest
Jackie, WHere in MI are you? I live in the Detroit Suburbs, near Waterford... As far as constipation goes, there are a few things that work WONDERS for me!! The best one is eating a couple of pickled okra every day. My body sees that as pure fiber, and they are actually pretty tasty items! Also, Apple cider always does the trick if the okra fails its job! I have to drink about three cups of it (not all at once, but throughout a single day) before it helps (and doesn't make me dump by drinking it slowly). Give those a try... even though colace is considered safe, me-personally, would rather try foods like the pickled okra, just to be REALLY safe. Good luck!!
