Guest guest
I have always strived to keep this forum open for honest personal opinions. It *isn't* a good place for *debate*, per se... does that make sense? I mean, I'd like for everyone to feel TOTALLY free to share their own experiences or opinions. As an example of what I mean, here are two different hypothetical posts that I hope will demonstrate my point. First post is from someone sharing their experience/opinion. Second one is someone debating a position: 1. " We decided against using pink flowery wallpaper in our baby girl's new room because we feel it is too stereotypical and we don't want her growing up thinking that certain colors/themes are for boys and others are for girls. " 2. " I think that your choice of pink flowery wallpaper in your baby girl's new room is unwise because it is too stereotypical and she will grow up thinking that certain colors/themes are for boys and others are for girls. " In the first example, the writer is relating a personal choice and her reasons behind her choice. In the second example, the writer is giving an opinion about someone else's choice. This is all assuming that the original person wasn't asking for people's opinions about her choice of wallpaper, of course. If you decide to post something like " We are thinking of using pink flowery wallpaper. What do you all think? " , then you SHOULD expect people to respond with their opinions. I hope this isn't totally muddying up the situation. If it is, please let me know what needs clarification. Of course, this is not a totally 100% moderated list and none of us three have the time to sit and comb through every single person's post, editing the spelling/grammar and re-wording things -- nor would we WANT to do that! That wouldn't be honest at all. Occasionally one of us might stumble across a post which has six million replies attached to the bottom of it and we might edit that stuff out, but that's all. Obviously we don't catch all of those, either! ha! Keep it real, y'all. And I do mean that! -Kris ListMom
