Hi Everyone-

I'm Lori and I had lap RNY on 12/13/03. I've been at goal weight for

a few months now and am considering trying to conceive in a few

months. I'm on the ortho evra patch right now but am having some

breathrough bleeding so I called the Ob's office today. They'd like

me to be off the patch and have two normal cycles before trying. So,

it is looking like this may be my last month on the patch. She's

calling in a prescription for prenatal vitamins as well. She'd also

like me on them for 2 months before we try. So, that leads me to my

questions...

Did any of you take prenatals before trying?

Did you take one a day or two?

Did you take your other supplements in addition to the prenatal?

I'm currently taking 2 children's chewables, two iron (two vitamin

C's with them), three calcium (with vit D) and a B vitamin combo.

I'm also on the Nasal spray B-12 Nascobal. So, any recommendations

on the vitamins? Keep the others and just replace one multi with the

prenatal?

My iron and B-12 have been low since surgery but they were low pre-op

too. No big shock on that!

I've got a 5 yr old daughter that it took me about a year of trying

to conceive. Once I stopped trying, I got pg. Stress I suppose.

So, I'm not going to try hard, just stop the birth control and let

nature take its course! Hopefully.

I've done some reading and was curious about the glucose test. It

looks like a lot of you skipped that. I'd really like to skip it.

During my first pg, I was borderline but my blood was so hard to draw

that they let me skip the longer test. I was very lucky.

I'm also curious if any of the members of this group had a vaginal

delivery after c-section since having WLS. Sounds like my OB is ok

with automatically scheduling the c-section since I couldn't pass my

7 pound daughter into the birth canal after 1.5 hours of pushing.

Apparently my bone structure is quite small. My current husband (not

my daughters father) has a really large head and large heads run in

his family. That scares me a bit since my daughter had a tiny head

and I couldn't move her down! She was born with torticollis (a tight

neck muscle) and required physical therapy for her first 2 yrs of

life due to cramped quarters and me trying to push her through for so

long! I don't want to relive that if it isn't neccessary. So, I'm

thinking the C-section may be the way to go.

So, any thoughts, advice or helpful hints would be most appreciated!

I'm so happy for this list!

Thanks and have a wonderful day!
