Guest guest
As most of you guys know we've been fighting getting Branden a new wheelchair. It was decided that he had to get a new one now by the insurance company because the old one was going to cost more in repairs than to just buy a new chair. Plus he was getting a new seat and footplate so that was more money. We are still pushing for the chair that goes to the ground and elevates 9 inches. We went yesterday to a hearing to prove why he needs the chair etc. I got a call 4 hours later telling me that it was denied once again but what they were going to do is get him the chair and let them demo it for a couple of weeks and then the PT would come out and do an eval. I got a call from her this morning and she set up the appointment to come out to the house and evaluate and then follow us to his school so she can observe him there. She said that the chair hasn't been denied and they are trying to put him in it since it seems to be the most appropriate chair for him, however because he only has one arm they are worried that he won't be able to do transfers to toilets etc.... ha ha ha She doesn't know Branden very well at all. She said if he shows her how well he's doing in it including being able to transfer to the toilet that she'll go in that morning and authorize the chair. I think the demo chair will be his because they are sending the exact size everything that he needs. Looks like it could be an exciting Christmas for Branden.
