Guest guest
Hi, Thank you for your lengthy response. I didn't mean to ask you to relive such painful memories. I presume you are better again, now that you resumed the Qgel. That is great. It is good to see such a strong statement that CoQ10 and Qgel does help a lot, at least for some people. I hope it continues reduce your symptoms. Guest guest
For those of you that are taking a CoQ10 supplement and are seeing an improvement in symptoms -- are any of you monitoring your CoQ10 levels with labs also? Guest guest
Dear Maggie, Your question is utterly logical, but, no, I have never had my CoQ10 monitored by lab tests. However, just the thought of more wrangeling with my insurance company makes me weary.....Sigh. Thanks for asking. S.
Guest guest
Hi, Maggie I have done some reading on this. It seems that serum blood tests for Q won't necessarily tell how much Q is actually in the cells or wherever it is supposed to be. The paper I read then suggested another way to do it - and it got complicated. But, it is my impression that testing for the effectiveness for Q is still in its infancy. I would LOVE to know how to have it tested accurately. Maybe someone has that info. > Dear Maggie, > Your question is utterly logical, but, no, I have never had my CoQ10 > monitored by lab tests. Guest guest
Maggie, Never had our CoQ10 levels checked either but I can tell in the way I feel and my son can tell very soon when not taking the Qgel--a matter of days to problems and then a matter of days back to being well after resuming the Qgel. Guest guest
, Insurance companies do have an unfair advantage over those of us who don't have the energy to fight them. It's probably not in their best interest to help us out there, is it? I am just surprised at how few here seem to have follow up labs with CoQ10 tests. I was taking supplements and still showed a significant deficiency in my muscles - so I'm interested in knowing if anyone has been successful in proving the supplements have helped with deficiencies in muscle tissue. (I've only seen references to improvements in bloodtests and/or symptoms). Maggie > Dear Maggie, > Your question is utterly logical, but, no, I have never had my CoQ10 > monitored by lab tests. Guest guest
Found the following on the epic4health website. CoQ10 Supplementation and Plasma CoQ10 Levels The importance of determining plasma CoQ10 levels during CoQ10 supplementation cannot be overemphasized. Minimum target plasma level must be established for any given condition for therapeutic efficacy. For instance, in the case of in heart patients, we now know that a minimum of 3 mcg per mL plasma must be reached before any clinical benefit can be expected. Duration of CoQ10 supplementation is another important consideration. In many of the early trials with CoQ10, blood levels were rarely monitored. It is quite likely that in those situations where a beneficial effect was not observed, it may be due to the fact that the blood levels did not reach the therapeutic range. > > Dear Maggie, > > Your question is utterly logical, but, no, I have never had my > CoQ10 > > monitored by lab tests. Guest guest
I'm not sure, but may have the list of labs that do CoQ testing. I will check. laurie > From: z39z@... > Reply-To: > Date: Sat, 13 Nov 2004 18:10:48 -0500 > To: > Subject: Re: CoQ 10 and Symptoms > > > Hi, Maggie > > I have done some reading on this.
