Guest guest
Hi Stella, As far as I've ever heard this is ok, his heels should drop down in time. At least that's what Dr. P. has told parents. This is as opposed to the Markell shoes where the heel needs to be down 100% so as to not cause slipping and blisters/sores. I think I've heard to buckle the middle buckle first on these. There are a number of people here who are using the 's and you will surely get some good advice but yesterday was our Thanksgiving holiday so many are not online these few days. Congrats on graduating to the brace! Kori At 02:45 PM 11/25/2004, you wrote: >hi all > >Our 16week old son was fitted with the sandals >today. Guest guest
Hi Stella!! My son Ethan has been in the sandals since July. When they first arrived, his heel didn't sit flat either. I emailed and Dr Ponseti with pictures and they both said it was fine and would correct itself overtime. I believed they called it " empty heel " or something. He is now 8.5 months old and his heel sits almost completely flat in the 's. Guest guest
Wow Stella, you're in the record books now! The s are pretty good shoes, his heels should work their way down pretty soon. A few parents here have had some trouble with the shoe actually breaking due to a different type of plastic used. You don't have to treat them with kid gloves but you might not want to throw them across the room (haha). On our recent pair I had to trim the straps as they were really too wide to fit through the buckle. Also a thing I did to ours was I dipped the tip of each strap in to a varnish (polyurathane?). After it dried this allowed the tip of the strap to be pushed through the buckle easier when dealing with a wiggly child. Good luck with your baby! s. Our 16week old son was fitted with the sandals today. As far as I am aware, he's the only child in the UK to have a pair of these! Does anyone have any experience, tips, advice etc. on how they have found using them. 's heels don't fit snugly into the sandals - we are hoping this will happen in time. He has atypical clubfeet. Guest guest
Hi - thanks so much for the advice - we will definitely dip the ends in the varnish! We have got through the first 24 hours without any mishaps. has taken to them extremely well - I was expecting tears all day! It has been so reassuring to hear that the heel not fitting in the sandal straight away seems to be fairly common. Stella > Wow Stella, you're in the record books now!
