Dawn-Marie,

Something to consider about having a shoe that doesn't fit right:

When they put Devlin in the DBB, they gave us the 00 so she " had room

to grow " (I think the guy was trying to help us out because we had to

pay for it all ourselves). However, it turned out to be a disaster.

Her heels were always lifting up in the shoe and I kept having to try

to make it tighter and tighter (she ended up with all kinds of red

marks on her ankles and feet---and the heels were still lifting

out). When we went back to the orthotist he gave us the 000 for free-

--he seemed to feel badly that his idea wasn't working AT ALL for

us. She was only in that smaller shoe for a few days. By then her

feet had regressed already and she went back into casts (in Iowa---

that's when we gave up on finding decent treatment in Philadelphia).

Now, Devlin's condition IS a rare form of atypical clubfoot---she

mostly has only had the equinous deformity and that made the " pull "

of the heel to straighten very pronounced. So, you may not have that

problem but it's something to consider. The $55 the orthotist was

trying to save us contributed to our having to spend a LOT more later.

I'll send the shoes to . It sounds like she'll be able to use

them for a bit anyway.

I'm glad your little one does so well with the nursing! Devlin

gained no weight at all until I started supplementing with formula at

6 weeks. She still nursed until 8 months, but I always gave her some

formula too. Sometimes I wonder if it was the extra calories she was

burning moving those casts around all day long! I guess we'll never

know...

a weed. Breastmilk really agrees with him. He will be 4 months at

the end of the week and is almost grown out of 6 to 9 months

clothing, he was only 7.5 at birth and at his 2 month check up was

already 14.5 pounds. I am going to ask for the shoes to be 1 size

too big because I think he will out grow them too fast and I have to

pay out of pocket and get reimbursed. I swear that veternarian

insurance would be better than the plan that I have.
