Guest guest
, I noticed the exact same thing on Christian's foot. I emailed Dr. Herzenberg about the brace full-time and I wish I threw in my question about the slight curvature that I noticed. His foot is very flexible though. Is 's too? I can't wait to see what the more experienced parents have to say about this. We just saw Dr. Herzenberg on Friday and he said everything looks great with 's feet. She has been in the s for approx. 3 weeks now, 23/7 of course. Anyway, my husband pointed out yesterday that 's left foot is turning in a little bit. The right foot doesn't do this. Dr. H just saw her and didn't say anything, but I am wondering if he just didn't notice. I personally didn't notice until my DH pointed it out. Should I be worried about this? We have already experienced a relapse and do not want to go down that road again. Has anyone else had this happen? Again, it is a very slight turn in, but I am paranoid. Thanks in advance for your help. and 3/2/04 bcf, s 23/
Guest guest
, I will email him about this, but 1st I wanted to see what people had to say. I forgot to give you my 2 cents on the shoe issue. I think longer is better. I know it sucks for the parents, but the last thing you want to deal with in the future is a relapse. It is easier just to go a month longer in the get-go then to deal with what could possibly be something worse later. Especially if Christian is okay with it. He doesn't know the dif between 2 & 3 months. Dr. H said something about going to 12 hours on our next visit instead of the 14-16 that is recommended next. If that is what he ends up doing, I will still do 16 hours if tolerates it. She won't know the difference anyway. She will be thankful that it is less than 23. Again, just my 2 cents. Guest guest
Sometimes it's hard not to be paranoid. I don't know if this is the case, but I am forever worrying and questioning about Kaitlin's foot. I have found that I can't relax and let it go sometimes unless I have the doctor tell me that its not a relapse (again). He is very understanding and patient with me. So, if you are very worried about it maybe you should give your doctor a call and double check, it can't hurt anything and I am sure you would have a better peace of mind that way. Guest guest
and ... I notice this with one of s feet as well. My dr. said that is the way he is comfortable leaving his foot when he is resting it b/c that is just what he is used to. When he stands up, his feet are perfectly straight. He isn't walking, so I don't know what it will be like then... but my dr. wasn't worried one bit. I too was extremely paranoid. Especially now that his hours are reduced, I am so scared for a relapse. 2/9/04 BLCF DBB 16/7 Gerace cgerace@...> wrote: , I noticed the exact same thing on Christian's foot. Guest guest
, I know exactly how you feel. I am the same way when it comes to my daughter Claire's feet. I don't want to lose any correction, not after everything we've already been through. She is being treated by Dr. Ponseti and has been in the shoes for a little over 2 months. I also noticed that her feet were turning in a little bit. It really scared me so I wrote to Dr. Ponseti and asked him if this is something to be concerned about. He put my mind at ease. This is exactly what he said to me. " The outside of her foot should be straight, but the muscles on the inner side of the foot and leg are still stronger than the muscles on the outside and therefore the foot turns in, as you say, when the brace is off. This imbalance also causes the outside of the foot to curve a little. Claire has to be in the brace three months full time. She can crawl and stand in the brace. It will be good for her to stand in the brace and play with toys you place on a chair or low table. This will help the outside muscles to improve in strength. " I hope this help put your mind at ease also. Claire 01-16-04 atypical bl cf (s 23/7) > > We just saw Dr. Herzenberg on Friday and he said everything looks > great with 's feet.
