Adam,

You are not a woman and you may think you know but you don't know what its like

to have your hormones run crazy.

It's perfectly normal to have doubts about pregnancy whether you had WLS or not.

It's in every pregnancy book out there.

I don't think we should judge anyone for their feelings and I personally think

we should not jump on someone for being honest and saying how they feel.

Especially you because you are a man. If your wife wants to chime in I'd

personally be glad to hear what she has to say.

Just because you want your baby so much doesn't mean that someone with an

unexpected pregnancy can't have doubts.

Again...you are a man. All you know about pregnancy is what you see your wife

or other women go through. You will never know how it feels.

I know this probably sounds mean but I don't mean it to be. Just honest.

Help

Hello all,

I'm new to this group since finding out I'm pregnant on Monday. I was

thrilled when I found out, but now I'm having doubts. I am now

starting to think that maybe I should terminate this pregnancy. Why?

Because I feel that I just went through something in order to gain

control over my weight and my life. Now I'm faced with a very real

chance that I will not only gain the weight back, but my body will be

even more scarred than it is already. I know it may sound selfish,

but I'm just expressing my feelings. I'm hoping that people will

sound off and allow me to get all sides. I should mention that I also

suffer from depression and all of my previous pregnancies were high

risk and not " enjoyable " experiences.

Children are a blessing, and a gift from the Lord. -Psalm 127:3

I beg to differ...but I am sorry...I didn't mean to " Jump " on you. No I do not

know what it is like physically...but let me tell you there is more to this than

just the physical aspect...It ripped me apart every month for the past 2 years

to see those negative ovulation stick....to see those nevative hpt sticks...to

see these families who are so happy they could scream...to see these wonderful

children running to their dads screaming " daddy I love you " ...DO you know what

its like not to have that...well for at least two years?!?!? Don't tell me that

I don't know...no ill never know what its like to PUSH a baby out...but It hurts

me also...so I do think I have a right to say ever part of what I said. But

hopefully you do find the right choice for not only you and your husband but for

your unborn child also...my thoughts are with you.

Actually I think Adam has every right to respond.

Truthfully, I am a woman and I don't understand how any woman could want an

abortion due to the fear of gaining weight. Truthfully if this woman is that

afraid of gaining weight she needs intense counseling to deal with that

fear. wanting to terminate to keep a nice slim body seems the height of

vanity. If you do not want to get pregnant so that you can forever remain

slim and trim, TAKE PRECAUTIONS! And if you really don't want to risk

getting pregnant, don't have sex. But once you get pregnant, to come to a

list and say that you are thinking of terminating because you don't want to

gain weight seems very vain and shallow.

In my belief this woman needs therapy to deal with that very real fear.

Weight gain -- the threat is always going to be there -- however it is

something that needs dealt with. Weight gain can and will happen during

pregnancy however it is a minor amount -- the average is 15-20 pounds post

surgery. And in exchange you get an adorable infant.

The threat of gaining weight is present if you take all sorts of

medications, eat too much, take in too many empty calories, and for a

variety of other reasons. It is omnipresent. She needs to deal with a

therapist to get past that.
