Guest guest
Hi, I have an 8 year old with CF . She was diagnosed at 4mths old. She had a really hard time to gain weight . We used a calorie booster called polycose , it is a white powder loaded with calories. We added it to all her food. We also tube fed her at night for a short time , that worked wonders. It seemed like a game of hit & miss with us , but they eventually found something that worked . I am sure he will start gaining weight. Hang in there ) If you would like to ask me anything , just e-mail me . His poos look ok, well still got some fat in it but not like before the enzymes. This is horrible news, I guess its because we havent had bad news about his weight yet that it is a real downer for us. I hope he puts on more next week mum to baby Liam 9 weeks with CF

Guest guest
Just a thought--my sons docs go by his height to weight ratio. The say this is a true measure of his weight gain. He is 5th percentile although his height to weight ratio looks good to the the doc and nutrionsist..(ha ha brain laspe sp) He weight about 17lbs 6 oz and is 18 months. He drinks nothing but breastmilk and pedisure..eats everything extra butter, fatty, etc.. He runs around like a little manaic ...he runs off more than he eats haha.....Hope this helps. I know what a downer this weight thing can be... stilll breastfeeds and I have found it impossible to wean him at this time. Guest guest
I am 7 weeks along. I am curious, those of you who have had a baby pre op, and have also had a baby post op, or are pregnant now...How has your weight gain compared? At first glance, what I have heard from other sources, is an average of 20 pound weight gain for WLS patients. But I would like to hear it from you... I was 280 when I got pregnant with my son, and I didn't gain anything until about 6 months, I lost weight until then. Then at about 8.5 months I started really gaining, and by the time I delivered 16 days late, I was up to 320!!! I certainly don't expect to be anywhere close to that, since I am at 160 right now, and that's really no gain for me yet, and I am 7 weeks and 3 days. I float between 155 and 160 anyway. (Besides, hubby says it seems to have all gone to my chest, and boy did it need it, after the weight loss;-) So I want to hear from all of you to see what I am likely to expect. I was 323 at my heaviest, and I was at 157 when I tested positive for pregnancy. I am 5'9 " , and I wear about a size 10. Also, on average, did you find that your maternity clothing size went up, compared to your normal clothing size? Thanks in advance for your replies. in MA 323/155 April 10, 2002 Open RNY Mommy to Caleb 11/27/00, wife to Ray since 9/26/96 (he had lap RNY on 7/28/03, and has lost 120 to date!)
