Before going through the extra expense of getting the

shoes/brace, you may want to consider having a hole cut out of the

back of the Markell shoes. That way, there will be nothing to rub on

Toby's heels and you'll also be able to 'see' that the heels are

seated properly in the shoes. I know that some members here went

that route with great success after their children got heal

blisters/sores. If you're interested in trying this, they'll be able

to give you the specifics.

That's just a judgment call on your part. Sorry I don't know what to advise you

- follow your gut.

Ponseti brace by

Thanks to all that replied to my last message regarding the problems

that my son had with the Dennis-Brown brace/shoes. Toby had bad

blisters and needed to be w/out treatment for 3 weeks to allow them

to heal. Our Doctor, Dr. Showalter, is an approved ponseti method

provider and put Toby back in casts. We are considering ordering

the " ponseti brace " by that have open heels as well. I

know others have had success with this brace but, due to the cost

(insurance will not pay for second pair), am wondering if I should

give the Dennis-Brown shoes/brace another try? Many of you that

replied indicated that the blisters were probably due to his feet not

being corrected enough and now that the correction is much better, I

am wondering if he will have a better time with the old brace? Just

wondering what I should do? Toby is in casts for now until we can

get the new brace, but would like to get some input before ordering

it.

Thanks so much for sharing your stories.
