We go to the Shriner's hospital in Greenville, SC and they give us

the braces and adjust them for us. We go back on Decemeber 2 and I

will ask Dr. Westberry about the shoes then. He may want

us to get them. The last time we went he said that our daughter may

need to have the tendon transfer and I want to try everything to

keep that from happening. Thanks again for the information.

Markell vs.

This may sound like a stupid question, but my daughter has the

Markell shoes on her braces. Looking back over the posts I see that

a lot of the children have the shoes. What is the

difference and does anyone know of a website or someplace that I

could see a description and maybe a picture. Thank you!

Sure. We're in our second pair and love them. Our daughter has atypical club

feet and Dr. Ponseti recommended we put her in them instead of the Markell's.

We're glad we had the opportunity. 's hands are blessed.

You know... if it were me, I'd go see Dr. Ponseti. He would know if the surgery

were really necessary. And the shoes from aren't covered by any insurance

at this time and I haven't heard of any one getting them through shriners for

free either. But you never know! Keep us informed!

Well, if Dr. Westberry thought that they might help her then we

could always buy them over the internet and take them to him to have

them adjusted. We may contact Dr. Ponseti if Dr. Westberry does

recommend the surgery anytime soon.

Thanks for your help.

If you're having doubts about her progress, you might be well served to contact

Ponseti now, sending photos, phone call or even consider going there. By the

time a doctor thinks she needs the surgery it may be too late to try the

non-surgical option. BTW I have been pleased with our shoes as well.

from what I know the sandals aren't going to change how your

daughter's feet are responding to treatment. They were developed because

many atypical feet just don't stay in the Markell shoes well at all. And

there are those babies who get sores even when their feet are fully

corrected who have gone to them. If there are problems with her feet

staying corrected you might do well to consult with Dr. Ponseti and see if

there might be something that can be done correction wise and then go to

the s if needed.

We go to Dr Westberry too. We go back for a visit on the 18th to get

the 3week casts off and ready for the shoes. We've really enjoyed

Dr. Westberry. Have you had the same luck?
