Guest guest
Hello everyone! Thank you so much for the warm welcome and answers to my question about the prenatal vitamins in additional to my " normal " routine of vitamins, calcium & B-12. I have another question. how did they perform the glucose test for you considering it is almost all sugar? I did see the article posted on the site regarding this and I printed that for my doctor but I wanted to see what you all experienced when taking that test. Did you just take a smaller amount? I just remember when I did it 9+ years ago it was so hard not to throw up; it was so thick and tasted gross. Also, at what week did you take it? Thanks again! Hey, Jake's Mom. I'm only 11w2d, but I asked my doctor about this because I was borderline gestational diabetic with all 3 of my other pregnancies. He said normally they would prefer to do the Glucola even after RNY. He did say, however, that an acceptable substitute was exactly 28 jelly beans. Apparently they have the same sugar impact. I'm quite sure I could handle 28 jelly beans -- IF I could fit that many in my pouch, because I don't dump from most sugars....just lots of liquidy sugars like ice cream or something yummy washed down with milk. LOL I wonder if that would be because solids stay in your pouch a little longer and release a little slower than liquids do. Either way, I think the doctor will do what you prefer. I know mine said I could do a fasting and then postprandial, but he would much prefer I do either the Glucola or the jelly beans. He said, though, that he was not even that concerned about gestational diabetes after the RNY and thought it probably was a moot point. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I have been taking 2 flintstones complete since WLS per surgeon's rule. My ob said to either just continue those or take prenatals. I ck the bottles and flintstones actually have more vitamins than prenatal so I just continue the flintstones. Actually I chew 3 per day, both doctors agree that is just great. My lab always comes back excellent. With the exception of my glucose usually being a little on the low side but by eating fruit every day and having a protein shake, it usually stays in the 70-80 range. I did not have to take the glucose tolerence test due to the GBS but my doc keeps an eye on my lab work. -- In OSSG-pregnant , " Comcast Mail " wrote: > Hello everyone! > > Thank you so much for the warm welcome and answers to my question about > the prenatal vitamins in additional to my " normal " routine of vitamins, > calcium & B-12.
