Hey,

I was on WIC with my son and now I am on it again for this

pregnancy. I also had to fill out a sheet saying what I ate for a

day prior to my appt. They basically just went over it with me and

that was about it. It truely does save when it comes down to the

infamil when the baby is born. I couldnt believe how much it costs

to bottle feed a baby!!!

Medicaid is a totally different story!! Medicaid is great because

women who are pregnant and dont have insurance have a chance for

medical coverage through this expensive time. There is a draw back

though. THEY DONT WANT TO PAY FOR ANYTHING!!! They pay for my doc

visits and thank God my OB accepts medicaid. My blood sugar is low

and I needed to see and indocrinologist BUT no docs take medicaid.

So my Ob decided to send me to a nutritionalist so that they could

help me come up with a diet so that I can keep my blood levels in

the normal range. I sat at the hospital for 2 hrs all to find out

that medicaid would not cover that either. My OB is PISSED!!!

Basically Medicaid will pay for our baby to be in the NICU for 3

months when he/she is born but has a hard time paying for the things

I need now that would change the outcome!! Its rediculous!! At

this point I am on bedrest for the next 5 months because the min I

move to do ANYTHING my blood sugar drops to almost coma levels!!

Even when I sit here doing nothing all day my levels stay around 60

and thats with me eating every hour to hour and a half. They do pay

for my blood supplies like monitor and test strips but they wont pay

for anything to avoid me being in the state im in. As of right now

my OB is trying to get a consult with a high risk OB unit in a state

facility here to see if they can help and medicaid will pay for it.

He told us yesterday that if it doesnt work he will just admit me

into the hospital because they cant deny the benefits then. PLEASE

let it work. I dont want to be in the hospital for that long!!

So I guess I am trying to say... there are some pluses to being on

medicaid but there are some major draw backs also!!

Food stamps are a different ball game all together... since my hubby

is not able to work yet because he is a non Us citezen and I have

been placed on bedrest we have nothing!!! They have denied our case

and have taken 3 months to do anything about food stamps... ITS

NUTS.. the people that SERIOUSLY need the help have to battle the

people that just apply for it for the hell of it and dont really

need it have them FASTTTTTTTTTTT... this is just my observation and

opinion... its a touchy subject and IM SORRY if my opinions dont

reflect some of yours... BUT when your in the process IT SUCKS!! and

when you dont have any other alternatives IT REALLY SUCKS!!

But on an up note!! I feel my lil bunkin swimmin around in my belly

and we heard the heart beat yesterday and all is well!! All of my

tests came back negative for any downs or other problems.. It makes

all the ups and downs that much easier to deal with when you know

that every thing seems to be ok even though it seems like its not...

Huggers to all!! I promise I wont rub your bellies!! :-)
